I would have the investigator call him up again thanking him for the swift repayment of 90% and the anticipation of the final 10% before all future claims against him will be dismissed.

the guy made 30 bones(US) for ripping you off and getting caught. Hes laughing..even tho he got busted, he still made some dough at it.

weigh the entire package
take pictures
send to ebay - perhaps the courier has a record of the weight.

they may claim on their insurance. you should have worked out insurance with the seller also but because its a scam ebay should take care of that, but I heard their policy has changed a little with that
report this to the police and to ebay and write a horrible review of his serviced citing this thread.

good luck,

It was in an unmarked, untraced package with no insurance (he did this, not with my consent). So even IF it were "removed", there would be absolutely ZERO reason to pack fake stuff and continue shipping a package. Nobody would know it was gone. He is the only person who (thinks) benefits from sending a "fake" package.

Guess I'm lucky that I've never been ripped off

sorry to hear that bud...ebay is just so unreliable....u can't even trust ppl with good feedback...I almost got ripped for 2500$$...good thing i did some research the last day before sending the money & the email header provided me with all the info i needed...the sender sent an email from ebay.com email but the header revealed the email coming from a mobile phone in netherlands....:wtf:

I've left him negative feedback, I'm guessing he'll do the same for me.

The item is found HERE

if you report the fraud, I think you can have his comment removed.

Basically the guy has ZERO proof that the package was sent AND delivered. Nobody had to sign for it, so in order for any transaction to take place, one sends money, the other sends the item. I have proof the money was sent and received, he has no proof the package was sent/delivered. Even if he HAS the receipt from Canada Post, he sent it regular mail, no insurance. I could just as easily say I never got it and he couldn't prove it was delivered.

I want to run the f*cker over.

As an eBay buyer and seller, I can tell you that you can claim "non-receipt" from PayPal and they will provide you with a refund. The only way that he can prove delivery is by using one of only a handful of approved courier companies who can prove delivery. Receipt cannot be proven any other way.

I know this as a fact, since last summer, I sold some tickets that were picked up and signed for. We even took the guy's license number down. Then the ****** claimed non-receipt and got a refund. When we faxed everything we had on him to PayPal, we wewre informed that only the tracked courier number mattered and they gave the bastard his money back.

I will put dollars to donuts that you will get a refund from PayPal and they will reverse the charge and debit the credit card he used to register with. In the unlikely event this doesn't happen, claim the exact same thing from your credit card company. One of them is sure to consider this "fraud" and refund you.

Edit: Err... just read the rest of the thread. probably should have done that first. I'd still report it. Fraud is fraud. And eBay and PayPal do take it very seriously. I think they would cover the rest of the money and deduct it from his card on file.

I guess I'll call Paypal and see what they say since he's paid most of the money back to me already. Not sure if I'd go through the dispute process, have to call them when I'm home next week.

I heard that Paypal only covers you if you don't receive anything. By him sending u a block of wood, makes that null and void. I'm not sure if they changed that policy.

Well since I said I received something I guess he uses that. I could have denied receipt and he had no way to verify/track that it was delivered.
