Well, bound to happen I guess, got screwed today. Bought an item for $400CDN and recieved it today in the mail, a box with a 2x4 piece of wood in it, and some old clothing. The seller didn't have a lot of feedback, but did have 7 things in the past all positive and he was the seller in each case.
Now he's trying to tell me he sent it and he doesn't know if I'm lieing now. |

| doesnt ebay have some kind of insurence? and have you reported it to the police? |

Can you tell where the package was sent from?
Or was the return address suspect?
How was it sent?
Can it be tracked backwards?
And how did you pay for it?
If it's VISA or some other credit card company, they have insurance for this type of stuff. Let them sick the dogs after the fraud...
So many questions...
I'm always leery of buying stuff from individuals unless I can see it before I order it.
Best of luck man... |

Not yet, it's hasn't been a week and I just got the package today. Spoke with him on the phone and he got all defensive, then when I was pissed about it, he said that's it, he's not going to be a nice guy and he's not helping me. How easy of him to take that route, he called me from a blocked number too. Said he doesn't know what happened. I asked him where the "original" box was that I purchased, and he said Canada Post wouldn't let him use the box. Hahaha, it's suppose to be a brand new item. You can ship it however you like. No shipping insurance used, so he thinks that someone must have swapped the stuff in transit, put his name on it and my name on it, and kept it moving.
Does that actually happen at Canada Post? Packages ripped off? |

Lets see,
Yes, it's from Windows
Return address is half correct, half in correct (wrong postal code for the address)
No it can be traced
Paid with Paypal (through bank account, not a CC)
Not insured
Late to respond after sending it to me.
Said he would give me a tracking number once he sent it, then after he sent it he said there was none.
Said that he couldn't use the original box (it was a brand new item, should have been sealed. They'll gladly accept your own box.
He called me after I sent him my phone number though.
He called from a blocked number. |

That's the clincher right there, in my opinion. You don't send a $400 package without insurance. Insurance costs peanuts - nobody sends anything without insurance unless they don't really give a what happens to it, which he wouldn't if he sent you junk.
Plus he lied to you, about the tracking number and the original box. Report it to eBay, report it to PayPal, and report it to the police. |

i woudlnt think so... it seems quite obvious that he is lying to me... there is no way he would get deffensive if it was true? and exactly, you can ship it however you like... i think? and if someone changed the package along the way, how would he know what the new package is like? etc. |

I think I'd be refusing the package based on a broken orginal seal and tardiness.
You bought an original, an original is what you should be getting.
His arguement 'couldn't use the orginal box' smells like bull to me.
What was his reasoning for not being able to use the original box??
If you were paying for the shipping why should he care what the cost of an abnormally sized box is to ship? :conf: |

I'm beyond sorry about this Kevin. I hope you can do something about it, and whatever you do ... do let this fag get away. Report it to Paypal. My friend's always suggest me to open the box with a camcorder running ... now I understand why.
I have 3 items I am waiting for, now I'm really nervous about it ... |

| this sucks completely Kevin, i'm sorry about this becuase I have so far had good luck with Ebay. I bought my Camera from an Ebay seller. However I went and picked it up instead of having the seller ship it to me. I hope you get your money back at least. Ebay has insurance of up to $600 for any item, check into it. |
