but had unions not been organized at the beginning of the 20th century...we would be in a very different world. they were once ligitemently set up to protect workers |

Mine too. $10. You're getting taken to the cleaners with that dr's note. And I only need one if I'm off for a second day. Societies with paid sick days are more productive (they don't spread germs and are rested when they return to work). |

good god! $50!!!??? my doc didnt charge me anything, just wrote it up and handed it to me. Maybe he is charging OHIP? but stil even $10 for him scribling on a piece of paper nobody can read anyways? wtf
Jayx1, i think you are taking this too seriosly. We have to come to terms with the fact that sick days, or faked sick days are unavoidable. Does that mean we should accept them? YES. Should we question somebody calling in sick? DEFINATLY.
This type of behavior is embeded into humans, wheather we like it or not. And as for your store, it goes without saying that employees are less likely to look out for the well being of their place of employment because of the low wage and responsibility level. Anybody can come in and learn how to make a sub, but say had this been a managerial role, such as yours, you know that you are more accountable for your actions, and they directly relate to the performance of the store.
when i worked in retail, i called in sick all the tme because i didnt want to work. Now that i have an office job, im more accountable for my work, and so i dont take as many sick days, unless i am truly sick. People depend on my work, and my position is not easily filled by another worker. hence why i put in more effort.
the effort exerted by an employee is directly proportional to their precieved benefit from keeping the job. |
