remember that it's in the ASOT top 20 so it can't be as bad as you're trying to make us think it is...

People who use that argument suck.

i don't agree, it's a bad argument, really bad. But i don't suck!! stockholm sucks! oh wait that's not true either, all really hot chicks live in stockholm and the rest of sweden. Damn, well anyway my point was just that imo adagio for strings is top of the bill..!!

In the latest A State of Trance, Armin said that Tiesto's Adagio For Strings is in the top rankings of this years' ASOT top 20... I couldn't believe my ears, this track is totally overrated and cheese, which fools voted for this tune???
omg omg omg omg omg

the whole point is that Armins ASOT is the epitome of 'overrated and cheese' in many ways, 90% of the tracks featured this year are cookie cutter of gutter styled and hyped beyond all levels by people who either don't have a clue what good trance is, or are so brainwashed by a show that started off as good and turned to when it decided to do more promoting of tracks on its label/sublabels and the mc-crap stuff than about supporting the scene in general

First of all im not a tiesto hater, he is my #2 dj, i love all his productions except love comes again and adagio for strings... My point is, all tiesto's tracks are highly original, but adagio for strings isnt, at least imo... Anyhow, dont start swearing at me again, its just how i feel and yes, tiesto owns me 32525 times and yes, my mother is a slut etc. etc. etc.

Oh i forgot to say: I drink donkey-piss too

2-3 years ago, asot was fresh, tunes were varied, with stuff like hybrid being played alongside stuff like silverbath, magic impuls, if u want me, seven cities, rank 1- awakening, ferry - indigo and the show in general was full of good music from various labels, and much more interesting

ASOT is a victim of it's own success.

18 months ago ASOT was fresh and played new original tracks and was a good indicator of what was gonna be big on the dance floors for the up coming months.

Now it plays commerical generic pap with the odd diamond in the rough.

BUT i wonder how much of that is down to Armin and how much of that is down to the men in suits?

I wonder how much freedom of choice Armin has in his playlists for ASOT or wether he is 'told' to play a tune because its getting a release on a certain label and the men in suits know how many ppl listen to ASOT all over the world on the internet and then DL the shows later after someone has ripped them and put them on the hubs.
And because Armin has played it 4 times in a row all those ppl that listen to ASOT will go out and buy it.
These men in suits are not stupid, they know a good majority of the listeners wont buy the vinyl, they will DL the mp3 from a hub but it still increases the hype of a track and it will get more sales than it would thru the normal channels.

I would dearly love to see Armin's contract with ID&T and see how tight they are pulling his strings.

and oh back on topic, Tiesto's remake of Adagio for Strings is a poor subsitute for Ferry's mix of it.

UWM
Armin even said in a radio interview two weeks ago that he doesn't necessarily play all the songs he wants to, but ones he is told to play.

You guys shouldnt be so hard on Van Buuren, you try to fill a two hour show every week with new tunes, not always possible to bring in new quality tracks... Fact is, you still listen, otherwise you wouldnt know how he plays on his recent shows. Listening = enjoying, otherwise you wouldnt listen, right?
One more thing, if even Armin is cheese, what isnt cheese? Armin is one of the reasons you started liking trance, never forget that.
