Tiesto's Adagio for Strings doing well in ASOT's top 20?? (pg. 5)

Vertigo
I'm with eyeball_2003 here... This track has an awesome effect on the crowd and for that reason alone the remix is already a big succes and people should respect it. (Even if they don't like the illegal mp3 they listen to on their computer at home)

It was the perfect opening at TIC1, just like Forever Today was at TIC2 - even though that might not be the best track out there either.

Tracks have a different purpose.

TIESTO DID NOT PRODUCE THIS TRACK!!!
HE REMIXED IT!!!!

so it is not tiestos adagio for strings

IMO the actual title should be Willam Barbers - Adagio For Strings (tiesto remix)

oh my! here we go again. if you make a cover of a track you release it under your own name. look at all the rock/pop covers for example.
you don't see
joan jett - i love rock 'n roll (britney spears remix)
now do you?
and he did not remix william orbit's version either and he didn't remix samuel barber's original, he did produce the track, but what he didn't do is compose it.
even if he had wanted to release it as
william orbit - barber's adagio for strings (tiësto remix)
or
samuel barber - adagio for strings (tiësto remix)
he couldn't do it without the permission of the artists.

and OMG above & beyond ripped off tomaso giovanni albinoni when they named their track
rollerball - albinoni
or the london symphony orchestra ripped off vivaldi for example for releasing some tracks he composed on a cd.

plese, get your facts together before you start that pointless bashing.

No it wasn't, but you can't really blame Armin for that since nobody could make that tune sound good...

Well done . A remix is a production, because Tiesto did all the synths, sequencers and mixing. Tiesto may not have written this track, but not once has he claimed to.

ASOT is a victim of it's own success.

18 months ago ASOT was fresh and played new original tracks and was a good indicator of what was gonna be big on the dance floors for the up coming months.

Now it plays commerical generic pap with the odd diamond in the rough.

BUT i wonder how much of that is down to Armin and how much of that is down to the men in suits?

I wonder how much freedom of choice Armin has in his playlists for ASOT or wether he is 'told' to play a tune because its getting a release on a certain label and the men in suits know how many ppl listen to ASOT all over the world on the internet and then DL the shows later after someone has ripped them and put them on the hubs.
And because Armin has played it 4 times in a row all those ppl that listen to ASOT will go out and buy it.
These men in suits are not stupid, they know a good majority of the listeners wont buy the vinyl, they will DL the mp3 from a hub but it still increases the hype of a track and it will get more sales than it would thru the normal channels.

I would dearly love to see Armin's contract with ID&T and see how tight they are pulling his strings.

Armin said it himself, there's alot of tracks he plays in his show that are horrible, i guess you're right. I'm starting to dislike ASOT more and more, for only one reason, every show i hear less tunes that i like. But i still like Armin, i don't blame him, it's just that he wants to keep doing the show, but he has to play alot of he doesn't even like, they're using his success and asot's success.

So...
He can stop the ASOT thing and start your own (really own) show and play only what he likes and the good stuff...
or does he play this program only for teh money? he could be a bit more underground...

:wtf:

Your solution doesn't have anything to do with the issue.

Your sig "appears" offensive. Your explanation is reasonable as to its content. However you ignore the fact that 95% of the people who read it are unaware of the backstory.

While no doubt you won't believe me, since you perceive me as hostile to your cause, perhaps if an ally of yours were to condemn it you would understand... may an ally of Ian's please step forth now and reinforce my observation?

Thank you Cobalt, your kindness will be remembered.

Part of your job as a social being is to imagine how people will interpret your remarks. Clearly people interpret your sig (sans context) as being problematic.

Now the onus is on you. Of the next 1000 people who read your sig, 100 of them will be aware of the context and find it amusing. Many of the other 900 will see an attempt to belittle someone. Do you change your sig under these circumstances? I guess only you know the answer to that...

There is lots of room for humour and jokes in the world, and on these forums. We are all here to have fun I hope. A sig with no context isn't the place to exercise it.
Mr.Mystery
How about getting back to the topic at hand, Subey? Ian's sig has nothing to do with it.

if i put subey is a twat then he can argue, until then, he can take a big slice of stfu :p

what I don't get....

if Armin hates all of this stuff, why is he a) trying to make money off it and b) why doesn't he stop playing it, quit id&t and asot and do what he really loves rather than being more comfortable getting paid to play these songs at events. It'd really show him to be someone who loved the music if he could do this, but I honestly don't see it happening
