it's very important to me... it could affect my line of work... I brought it up to emphasize my point about the arrogance of the current government(s) but especially the provincial one.

Miller wont get much done either. Hes more concerned with spending 1.5 million on homeless shelters that no one uses and renaming a christmas tree into a "holiday tree" to worry about real issues.

Yes, but unlike lobby groups, the CTF has the resources to file a lawsuit. And they sue quite often (not usually for money but for injunctions).

Government wastes a lot of money, but you have no clue just how much more they'd be wasting if it wasn't for the CTF. I haven't joined them yet because I really just started earning an income, but I probably will soon.

I was actually wondering what was happening with the lawsuit filed by the CTF against the Ontario Government...I haven't heard much lately...Man if the CTF wins that and then the Gov has to refund everyone with that bull health Tax... THAT would be sweet:tongue2

The funny thing is that Mel Lastman ( a jew) raised a huge stink about that a few years ago and insisted that it be called a christmas tree. What pathetic people left wingers can be.

yeah right. This is the government we are talking about. And with the arrogance of this Liberal government all they would do is pass another law to get around it.

You see the provincial Liberals are taking cues from their federal cousins. The federal Liberals have screwed us royally and we have elected them 4 times over. The provincial Liberals are relying on the same Ontario mentality.

Basically it's screw them hard because they will just re-elect us anyways.

Actually i think it was a great move on his part. Id rather have Lastman with his political incorrectness in office than this tax and waste lefty that we have in Miller. This guy is going to bankrupt Toronto.

True...I've met Miller a couple of times & he's a very kewl person but he really pissed me off with the Fantino ousting...I liked Fantino & I think he's done alot for the city...

Fantino being kicked out is the least of the things he's done wrong. Its just that our liberal loving media doesnt do much critisizing of the waste he incurs. The real reason the province is reluctant to give the city money and more power is because they know it will just get wasted.

Im sure hes a nice guy but i dont vote for people because they are nice guys, i vote for them because they know how to manage the corperation that is our government.

Not everybody knows this but we actually have a very active organization called the Canadian Taxpayers Federation that keeps a close eye on these things. So for everybody who's mad that their taxes aren't going to the right places, there IS something you can do besides complaining: join them. Support an organization that actually can and does make a difference.

hmmm .. interesting ..

that's why i hate the "don't have the money" argument especially when so much of it is being squandered all the time. bring this up at the next TTC town meeting and see what'll be said in defense, i trust that it won't be very worthy ..

i wonder if our suggestions can gain leverage thru the CTF..

When I posted the map, I emailed it to a bunch of people too...a reply from a fellow TA who shall remain nameless *cough*dan*cough* :p

I had to go to a Christmas party with Deputy mayor Pantalone, and I showed this map to him..... He (pardon the pun) railed off on how he has been fighting with council, CN, the TTC, Ottawa, Ontario etc. etc. to get our transit system on the map. Apparently, David Miller is pushing for a line along the south end of Toronto that would basically follow Front St. From the Etobicoke junction over to Cherry/Parliament....

Interesting....

hmmmmm...so maybe, just maybe, something will get done.

What a stupid idea when we have a GO train that mimicks the same route. Im all for a queen st line though and connections to various GO stations along the south end as well.
