I think there are many, many other people on this board who are for more deserving of that criticism than I, whom you and others don't bother to criticize simply because you agree with their viewpoints. That is what I've been trying to say and will continue to say if you keep pressing me on the issue.
I thought you asked me to drop it. That goes both ways - stop trying to get in the last word.
Margs, maybe I am condescending on rare occasions, but exposing the ignorance in an argument is not condescension. Unlike many others here, I don't resort to petty ad hominems. Nobody likes to be wrong, but that doesn't mean they have to act like a 12-year-old about it and whine that I'm being mean or that I don't "accept" their opinions, or start calling people names.
I've been wrong about things on this board before. And I can handle it. I simply say "My mistake" or "I stand corrected" or even "You're right"! And if somebody can express their opinion without making up or offending me personally, then I'm quite happy to agree to disagree and drop the subject.
I'm tired of this whole discussion. You may think it has nothing to do with politics, and I honestly wish it didn't, but unfortunately it does. I know for a fact right now that most of the conservatives on this forum are nodding their heads and that most of the Liberals on this forum are shaking theirs. |

I don consider myself conservative nor liberal because many of my beliefs fall into both categories.
I just happen to think that fiscally, the conservatives are able to handle government in the best way even though i question some of their stances of gay marriage etc etc. But remember, it was a CONSERVATIVE and NOT a Liberal or NDP government that extended drinking hours until 2. So the way things work here as far as right to left goes are a bit screwed up. |

I'm just trying to simplify as much as possible, since my posts in this thread are long enough as it is. I'm a capitalist not a conservative, and with respect to "right to left", the *true* far-Right is actually anarchy, not theocracy or fascist dictatorship. I'd say that I'm more likely to strike a chord with right-wingers than left-wingers, but I've actually had some pretty good discussions with the ever-shrinking "soft" left.
