Perhaps but I never said they were small market. They win with a small payroll. That's all I meant because we are talking about the Yankees exhorbitant payroll, not how big of a market they are in.

Minnesota = small payroll = still win

That's all...

Ohhhhhhhhh... I saw you mention the A's and Minnesota and just assumed small market. My mistake homey. ;)

If only the Mets would look at the A's, Twins, etc and see how good they are because they draft so well...

Watch out for those Brewers too...
SlackerBoy9
Ben Sheets is starting to look like the ace they envisioned he would be,now if they can get another quality starter there i agree watch out for the brew crew, also the devil Rays are slowly but surely heading towards that positive corner....thanks to the Mets giving them Kazmir and Rocca Baldelli and Carl Crawford being defensive and hitting studs

Looks like Beltran won't be signing anywhere til saturday...when the deadline for the Astro's final offer is presented....Scott Boras is part of what's wrong with baseball

Don't forget about Upton and Delmon Young... Though they need to chill on the hitting for a while and draft some pitchers.

Bad thing about Sheets though is that he is a FA after 2006... so they better get cracking. But they do have Jose Cappelan, Rickie Weeks, and Prince Fielder... damn.

Astros have made their final offer...

The Houston Astros said Thursday that they've made their final offer to Carlos Beltran. They'll find out this weekend whether it was enough to keep the All-Star center fielder.

First off I'm an Angel fan (since 1989). So I've joined the "owner has a lot of $$ and wants a winner" club. However, how can a Yankee fan not think there's some sort of problem when their payroll can exceed $200 million and the Tampa Bay's and Milwaukee's etc etc are at $20-$30 million? It's bad, and with the Angels at over $115 million, I'm smart enough to realize that we're part of the problem. Seriously, When the gap is $170 million between the highest and lowest teams payrolls, something is wrong. But the system is what it is, so too bad. A guy who picthes every 5 games [if healthy] making so much cash is ridulous. And NO, I don't think Bartolo is worth the $ we're paying for him, but what's done is done. All in all, I'm a big baseball fan, and nothing will be changing soon. See LA Lakers of 2003, the Colorado Avalanche or New York Rangers [remember the NHL, that league that used to organize hockey games?] or countless other star struck teams in sports history to see that money and superstars don't always = a championship, so lets just see how the season goes. The Yanks are loaded, just get over it. I'm actually happy because quietly the Angels are too, but all the attention is back east, so noone seems to care ;)

Better chance for Shelling to break down.

Big Unit sends a 99 mph heater right into Papi Ortiz' earhole. He isn't the same after that....

;)

Pats lose this upcoming weekend and the Red Sox lose in October.

sox: ~115 million

now, please STFU
sox payroll actually went down

but anyway
with the steroid boy, the girly man and a very well round pretty boy shortstop to take it all in the ass, how can you worry about money?

as I've said before, cheaters never win
