what is that old saying, i forget, the mets make the front page news in January, but stuck in the middle pages in September/October.

anyways I think the Mets signing of Pedro wasnt that good but I like the Beltran signing, and if they get Delgado, wow.
SlackerBoy9
after last years all star break flop i will take what i can get,Pedro will be solid for at least 2 years.Question is who will fall apart first..him or Glavine?
Shamez214
Glavine has fallen apart in the second half each of the last 3 seasons. The Pedro signing is great. The Beltran signing is great. All we need to do now is trade for Mientkiewicz.

And the Mets never 'won' the back pages. You think signing Jeromy Burnitz is winning the back pages? We've NEVER signed the two biggest free agents on the market. NEVER. And they're not just the best on the market cause everyone else stinks. These guys are legitimate stars. Seems no matter what the Mets do, people still criticize. What have the Marlins done to get better this year?

BTW, I still choose the Braves to win our division.
SlackerBoy9
I agree with the Braves comment,Great coaching and strong scouting at the g.m. position.having the ability to get Tim Hudson and move john Smoltz back to starter and trade for Danny Kolb to fill his spot....

they still won't make the playoffs and even if they do, they'll get hammered. Certainly by the Yankees in the WS if by some miracle the Mets make it there.:)
SlackerBoy9
probably will get smacked around, but at least they are trying to get better..more than i can sday for alot of other teams.Biggest weakness at this point for the mets is a shakey bullpen.
Gotta add i like the Yanks bringing Tino back...classy player unlike Giambi

I never wanted Giambi. Tino's last season in 2001 was amazing...30 odd homers, 120 RBI and they opted for Giambi. I guess I can understand why, but some deals work, some don't. But personally, I never would have moved for Giambi. But that's George. Tino was always one of my faves...got his autograph in 2000 at a Jays game...nice, friendly chap.

So they won't make the playoffs. But they might, so if they do they'll lose before the World Series. But they might still make it there and then they'll lose to the Yankees. Got it...

well I'd hope you get it. You do speak English right?

1) They probably won't make the playoffs
2) If they do, they'll get hammered, and...
3) If by some tremendous miracle the Mets make the WS against the Yankees, just like 2000, the real New York team will destroy them.

Got it now? Or was that Spanish?
Shamez214
Got it. And that's basically what I said... But your original post said 'They won't make the playoffs.'

In anycase, I don't think they'll make the playoffs this year either.
