Most of the time it's not windows that has the problems. I been running on win2k about 2yrs without formatting. It works as perfect as ever. My computer does not crash. It runs about a bazillon things..many at the same time, but it does not crash. When there is a problem it's usually a problem with the 3rd party drivers, not actual windows. I have 2 notorious devices that took me a long time to figure out to work perfect.

1) 1st version of the Hercules GTXP soundcard drivers. I got this thing the first day it came out. NOBODY in the world was able to get this thing to work...nobody but me and my friend that bought one as well. After 3 days of redoing the drivers manually, we got it to work PERFECT!!

2) Kensington Bluetooth adapter.
For its' sake, it does say it only works on "Windows XP SP2" computer. But I know anything that works with XP will work in w2k. After a long ass time i was finally able to get that peice of crap thing to work.

on a related note, i doesn't work on my laptop with winxp sp2. The drivers just pure suck. I don't care much to fix the problem on my laptop though.

But now...I hate computers. I really do. I try to spend the least amount of time possible near them. I have work to thank for that!

that is true .. i have had some problems with my computer ever since i switched to Win2000 (3 years) usually hardware difficulties, than software difficulties .. handles my processes very quick and well .. before i was running 98 and ME .. stupid me (yep .. ME craps out on me all the time .. hahahhaa .. ) .. it doesn't page to virtual memory all too well, and then i start getting those damn memory page error messages all the time .. run the same progs on win2000, and don't get the messages .. strange ..

however, windows xp craps up a bit whenever i use the windows ftp (i go old school with my ftp junk .. either that, or if i am lazy, i use ws_ftp) .. i have putty, but rarely ever use it .. but sometimes whenever i send junk over online to my account on the school server, and shutdown ftp after that, i cannot delete my files on my computer. i get an error message saying that that files are currently active.. :conf: ..

and sometimes, whenever i am using telnet on "windows command", it freezes on me, and i try to shut the prog down, but windows won't let me .. :conf: .. maybe it's because i am using an intel celeron chip on my laptop .. :whip: .. i should get a new laptop with a xeon chip, when i can get more money and stuff .. :D

are you adding the hard drive or replacing the hard drive?

adding, no problem.

replacing, you'll need to add it first to your existing config, copy the files over, then replace it fully.

I spent f***ing 2 weeks working on building a Postfix - Courier-Imap - Cyrus-Sasl - Mysql - Squirrelmail mail system for my club's server digitalitcc.com.

Yea, and I went insane because of random errors on Linux. Completely random, barely documented, repetitive Google searching, finding no answers, reinstalling 7+ times.. etc.. But now it is finally working with virtual mail accounts, and I am happy.

So I have a love-hate relationship with Linux (I use Mandrake for the server). It's powerful, and stable for a server, but has bad documentation and usability. And ./configure and make take sooo farking long. And rpms usually don't have the latest version or have everything.. booo...

I'm also the webmaster of that club, and one of the programmers at our unofficial school website, saratogahigh.com, and completely rebuilt the site into PHP.. yea..

Also.. uh I go around repairing people around the town I live in's computers.. and also repair computers around my high school. ... A SPED computer had.. 3000+ pieces of adware and was slow as heck.. my cousin's new machine had 1800 pieces of adware and was running slower than 400mHz... omg
