lately, i have been seeing an increased number of computer-related questions .. from web programming to c/java inquires to database questions with mysql to computer related problems, and it seems many ta's here can solve any of these problems quickly ..
and i also notice that we have many ta's here that are/were web/system programmers or techs (network admins, computer repair, etc...) ..
so let us share stories when you wanted to kill bill gates, because windows os wouldn't recognize a device, wouldn't recognize a computer in the network, or didn't want to respond to applications that were loaded..
or the system/web programmers here (that's me .. argg.. :whip: ) .. let us share stories when your programs won't work/function properly .. or when a dll/jar/etc .. was corrupted, causing your program to screw up ... or when you had to stay up all night programming something, because you waited till the last minute to do the project .. :whip: .. hahahhaa ....
let us share stories .. |

there was this one time ...
i had to make a JSP application with java servlets, pages, scripts, xml, etc ... well i had to run the pages from the school server, and my side was working fine, with the compiling and executing ..
but when i transferred the java files to the school server, and tried to run the site, i kept getting compilation errors when trying to compile my java code .. i was so pissed that i wanted to rip my computer in half ..
then i found out i was transfering my java files to the school server in binary format, instead of ascii format .. :whip: :whip: .. it started to run properly, finally .. dumb me should be looking at what i am transferring before i run my code remotely .. hahahahaha ..
then i found out the database connection to the school server database wasn't connecting properly .. i found out later the .jar file to connect to the database was corrupted, and needed to download a new one .. :whip: :whip:
then it took me awhile to run functional java queries, instead of running a straight sql string script to fetch data .. oh boy that was a very long month for me .. that sucked like hell ... |
