Oh off. Talent does not equal success, and success does not equal talent. Get that through your head. And I'm not jealous of anyone, I'm just annoyed at the fact that a dumbass like Armin van Buuren is "one of the world's best DJs". |
Oh really? Last time I checked, you needed talent to get to the top. I love all those big name DJs for a reason.....because I thought they had the best sounds. I never went on some website and checked what's hot when I started listening to trance. I just downloaded anything and everything I could find and listened to it and decided for myself. The first guy who ever got me hooked on trance was Paul Oakenfold. One day in 1998 I just happened to be on napster and saw a mix, downloaded it without ever knowing any trance DJ at the time, and guess what? His sound was awesome! Same with Tiesto in 2000, I just got his trance energy mix just to sample who the guy was cuz I never heard of him, and you know what? He was awesome too and I was hooked and knew in 2000 that he would be the next big thing. Same with Armin Van Buuren in 2002 and same with Above and Beyond right now. I listened to tons of other DJs, and many of them in Top 100 list, and I choose myself what I like and what I don't. And guess what? Seems like a majority of people like those DJs' sounds as well, that's why these guys got to the top. You sound like some disgruntled DJ who never made it and now hates on the guys at the top. Your definition of cheesy is what sounds good and therefore usually gets overplayed.....well grow up, if it didn't sound good, people wouldn't listen and the demand for these guys wouldn't exist. I don't listening to crap, but apparently anything that sounds "cheesy" is your defintion of crap.....hey, it's your opinion, not like it's going to change anything. |

And one more thing, if you were on top, I wonder if you would consider yourself cheesy. I'd probly be laughing, cuz other people who always think they know better wud be hating on you. Being at the top always comes with the haters below.
BTW: Armin Van Buuren is coming to Toronto March 24th, and I can't wait to go see him :toocool: |

Also, Curare - Schneller Pfeil from 1993 has a 1 minute, 34 second breakdown. Cygnus X - Deliberation from 1995 has a 2 minute breakdown. And if I remember correctly Rabbit In The Moon - East (The Opium Den Mix) from 1995 has a fairly long breakdown as well. Though i'm sure you all know that when Ishkur talks about genres in that way he means most tracks, not all of them, and there are always exceptions.
Though for some reason now I find it very interesting to know which trance tracks had very long breakdowns before 1996, say.

No remix beats the original. That remix is much worse than the original anthem. No dis to Caspar...but still. |

oooo good ol fashioned flame wars.....
as for the whole breakdown argument, some tracks pre 97 had them, but when it was 1 in 10 or 1 in 20 tracks it was unique, now its standard to have 1-4 minute break downs, so it gets boring. same with supersaws, i get sick of them every now and thne, but i dont dislike tracks just because it has a supersaw, most of them sound pretty awesome, i just mix up my playlist a bit.
ishkur im pretty impressed you didnt go into your usual trace hating rants.

Ory's not able to post anymore. You can still 'stick it in [his] butt' if you like, though. |
