Soccer or bust, folks. When it comes to playing the game, there's nothing quite like it. Everything else is just too slow or too boring.
I used to play for years... Even joined a league at one point in time. No other sports quite fit my fancy like soccer. |

Do you have your own personal dictionary where the definition for opinion and fact are identical? |

Perhaps in looking at the domain of the posted website, we could determine that it is possible there is some degree of bias inherent. Were that an objective look at all sports, and still the conclusion was that soccer was for sports flunkies, the point would be better received.
However, like most niche websites, the content as to be incredibly polarizing to garner attention.
All these people that get fanatic about sports but have never devoted anytime to playing them I have no problems with. Hell, I don’t even mind them bashing any other sport. Who gives a !?!?! What amazes me is the defensiveness people have for, “their sport”.
Soccer at higher levels of competition is unbelievably brutal, so is *any* sport for that matter with the possible exception of baseball.
I’ve done:
Track & Field (800m and Longjump)
Boxing
Soccer
Rugby
Football (Half-back)
X-Country
I found sports where the sole focus is on *you*, where there is only one victor, to be the most mentally and physically draining sports, because you throw everything into it until you have nothing left, to win.
More injuries in Rugby or Football? Totally different types of injuries in my experience. In football, you’re padded up so people hit you about 3 times harder than in Rugby. You incur concussions, broken ribs, broken ankles etc…
Rugby, the players often try to injure you if you go to the ground. I’ve seen ears halfway torn off, shattered fingers from cleats, holes put through people’s cheeks, etc…
Boxing had a 100 percent injury rate, you are *going* to get hit, it also required unbelievable physical and mental toughness.
Worst for me was track, however. My event was the 800m, I would generally vomit before and after a race. The intensity of being on a track with 12 other guys and with a stadium of people cheering, knowing only one would win was greater than any other sport.
Soccer was brutal, but I wasn’t very good at it to be honest. I *love* professional soccer, of all sports to watch, that’s my favorite (outside of MotoGP and Rallicross). The level those guys are operating at is otherworldly.
I have a feeling that American’s are warming up to the idea of soccer. I hear more people talking about it these days than I used to. I don’t really understand how you can’t at least appreciate it, but don’t give a if you don’t.
Anyways, I’m just pissed that site isn’t at least funny in its mockery of soccer, come on people…
Oh, and in terms of, “Something is popular so it’s good.” Well, sometimes that’s true actually.
But Mark Twain has a quote that I love:
Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect."
Happy sport and country bashing all! |

face it americans are fookin dos s...
NFL : a toned down american version of rugby
Baseball: who the plays baseball other than the americans and cubans..and the only reason the cubans play baseball is cuz americans occupied them.
American football: how daring...calling the sport using the term "foot" when 90% of the game is played using hands....s anyone?
| quote: | | so most popular=best? wtf? according to your logic, fifty cent is the worlds greatest musician. |
think ur mistaken lil man... fifty cent is the highest selling rapper in the united states...hence rap is only big in the united states, so ur wrong on that analogy, he doesnt sell anywhere but the states. "Soccer" on the other hand is played by almost every country in the world and loved by those countries/has been for quite some time. American sports are played in the states....name me more than 4 countries that play baseball and is their countries passion/favorite pastime. Dont bring japan into it, theyre s... |

if you're gonna use an example at least use a good one...
as for soccer...well...in colorado its pretty big. they got little soccer stuff going on all the damn time, but of course to the general public soccer isn't very popular... |

I had a manager that used to make that argument. He also would say that girls are good at soccer, so it must be easier to play.
After a while it just wasn't worth arguing with him. I enjoy soccer/football, but I only really like watching the World Cup's/Int'l play, the European Champions League, and British Premier League (Norwegian Premier League too, but I can only watch that in Norway). |
