Armin has gone on a quest to make an imprint of AvB in trance music that with mentioning of his name you know who he is and what he does. |
An artist should never purposely go on a quest like that. If s/he does what s/he does because s/he just wants to play music and do it for fun, yet inadvertently makes a name for her/his-self, then fine, but fighting to make a name for yourself is wrong.
I'm with Ian; we don't hate him, we're just not fans of what he's become and we have the right to speak our minds. I'd very much appreciate and praise him if he did something that's new, original, and innovative. Unfortunately, I haven't seen any of that. |

You call ASOT cheese, because you only seem to like some gloomy music. ASOT 2005 compilation for example which you spat on can take you from progressive, from story telling to trance, and then to techno sounds and underground towards the end etc., but yet you can't find one good tune you like there, eh, but it's because it's Armin's selection of course. I don't care what you say you liked, you obviously lost it for trance. |
I've never said ASOT was cheese, I said it was unimaginative and boring, as so many tunes sound too similar these days, gone are days when he'd play Hybrid, even Umek at times, and other artists inbetween.
You're right in a way about what I feel for trance, I still love it, just not as much of it, from days where i liked 90% of releases now it;s down to 5% in the 'epic' genre anyway. Hardtrance is still fine for me, and Psy likewise, Tech has gone to , its no longer techy tho :( thank tiesto for that tho |

I didn't say I don't like you, don't try to twist you into me, I said I won't listen to what you say.
Armin has gone on a quest to make an imprint of AvB in trance music that with mentioning of his name you know who he is and what he does. Sure he still does remixes, but the music is different than it was few years ago, if he released a track today that's in the lines of anthem/epic trance, he'd get ridiculed ie. Shivers, so whatever he does doesn't seem to be good enough for your standards.

I get it, he should just play some dark random songs and stay in obscurity, that's the way you guys like it, and then you'd praise him. Very innovative and ground breaking.
What I meant to say is, when you say AvB you think trance, atleast that's what Armin says, because he's a trance DJ.
Everyone else is running away from that word, as if it's not good music, but they all want the milk the cow and sell their CDs to TRANCE addicts, now what does that say for many other DJs out there huh? It's hypocritical to me. But then again I don't regard some of people here as trance addicts at all. |

He used to do that, and it was good.
Trance with more trance with some more trance on top, just gets boring track after track, he doesn't change it up. |

i agree, theres no problem with a trance dj throwing a house track or two on, just to mix it up a bit. im surprised that the man hasnt gotten bored with it himself, honestly. |

I'm betting that he has. It seems to be all about the fame now, and I wouldn't be surprised if he's bored. |

Did any of you by chance miss the fact that he doesn't even like alot of the stuff he plays on ASOT? |
