If you only wanted the opinion of two people why not just PM them?

Fresh Prince, I think some of what you're saying is quite biased and a little unfair, although i can appriciate and respect that you are defending the music you like (which happens to be the music I like to), we all need to accept that others are different and entitled to their own taste, until people here learn to live with that fact there will be constant arguing and flaming. Ian, Sandstorm, and whoever else havnt really caused any trouble in this thread, they just answered a question put to them in an attempt to open peoples minds to different styles of music.

I've accepted the fact they don't like Armin long ago.
They can't seem to accept the fact that I do, so they keep reminding me of their hate in every Armin/ASOT thread.

memusa you're dead wrong here, it's as if you're suggesting since Armin and Markus played the same song, one of them should now cease to play it :conf: yea right.
They are 2 separate artists with 2 separate styles, and the only thing that bonds them is Armada really, let's put aside the fact that they are friends.
NOW if you ran Armada would you want to sell the same song on 2 CDs ?
Hell no! You'd make less money because people would have to choose between the two.
But they did this anyway so obviously they are not in it for profit, but it's because it's what the artists desired to have on their CDs.

LOL. You're contradicting yourself man! You forget that labels also make money selling singles through vinyl, cds or digitally. Hence, the more you promote a track (promoting it more because they are including the track in two compilations that belong to Armada), the more chances it has in selling as a single...and as a result, more money (i.e. profit) is obtained.

I have nothing against Armin or Markus like I said earlier. I think they are both great DJs and I own a lot of their comps and have some live sets of them. They are both very good technically. What I have a problem with is promoting the hell out of your label to make more money instead on mixing it up a bit and promoting artists that do not belong to their label to expose the real good underground stuff that's out there...because it is...they just don't seem to look hard enough, in my opinion.

Look if I wanted that song as a single, I wouldn't buy it on compilation where it's mixed, but as single as you suggested.
The possible buyers will buy the 2 compilations in question because of overall appeal, not because of 1 song, and that's where our opinions differ, it's where you claim the compilation is a marketing tool, while I don't think so.

Most compliations are marketing tools, using tracks from thier own label or sublabels.

the best compliations or mix cd's have been the gatecrasher and euphoria series in my opinion because tracks chosen for the mix have been from many unlinked labels and are a reflection of whats currently popular in the clubs themselves.

on the subject of Armin, i can not listen to ASOT anymore because most of the tracks played are substandard reason produced generic rubbish.
I wish he had more say in what he can play on his shows.
You get the odd gem in that lot and those break away from ASOT and played by other Dj's.

as for Armin himself, i still think the guy is an incredibly talented DJ, his mixing is top notch and he can make a crowd go nuts, surely at the end of the day thats what a DJ is there for? to make an excellent night out for the paying public.

haven't listened to ASOT 2005, but i think the same could be said of Armada stuff. Listened to Schulz's Miami CD and i wasn't impressed.

Didn't read the thread. Did ya? ;)

I saw a Gatecrasher cd at Best Buy but none of the tracks even rung a bell. I'll have to go back and check it out. Was kinda weird that it was only $12 and was a 2 cd import. :conf:
