TOTA Gay Thread (pg. 8)

I have always loved house clubs for the vibe and atmosphere. And alot of that time, it's because of the gay presence inside that gives it that great vibe.

Granted, I have been hit on many times by gay men inside these clubs, but most will back off once you notify them that you're straight and not interested. That being said, I have met some extremely cool and interesting gay men that I would honestly rather spend time conversing and chilling with than some straight friends that I have. I find that they are (for the most part) very confident and mature individuals who have something to offer in a conversation. I just enjoy the vibe and atmosphere much more than the tiring college and top 40 meatmarkets.

MEAT MARKETS! I TAKE OFFENCE! AND SO DOES THE REST OF THE STRAIGHT COMMUNITY! :D

I think you misunderstood. I myself am straight, I just get annoyed with some of the antics inside the top 40s and college night clubs. You know, the addition of booze and every guy becomes a superhero mentality.

I'm past my days of getting into fights at clubs. This is probably why I get annoyed at the things I see during the college nights. Sure, there are some cool people who I'd enjoy spending time with, but most of the clientele is plain annoying.

some of the best guys I dated were partieRs..but some were also the worst ones...haha.

I guess it all depends really.

But my next boy has to love the music..or else it will never work (at this point in my life anyway) ;)

Yah. I don't bother trying to pick up girls in clubs - I've had quite a few come to me actually. One sticks out, Steph I think her name was, at The Guv for Tiesto back in June 2004 in the wee hours of the morning. Bustin' a move to MO closing it off around 5 or so, and I had my second wind after the booze wore off. She approached me out of nowhere and started dancing with me, then it went from there. Remember that Dan? You kept asking me "who's that girl, who's that girl?"

Good times.

Tully...thanks! :) I'm looking forward to meeting you and Sam sometime soon, for sure...I'm ashamed that I haven't yet attended a Deko-ze Sunday night :o

What the hell... Miss Honey Dijon is a Mister?! lol damn!
Learn something new everyday... :D

It's not really a secret...that's what's funny, lol.

Great story that I'm sure I posted a while ago...Honey Dijon was on Electric Circus 2-3 years ago I think, mentioning her frequent trips up here to spin, how the customs/border people got to know her, and how they eventually weren't surprised anymore and would just say "oh, it's just him again" or something like that (not in a nasty way, a friendly way). The host (not that coked-up girl, some guy filing in) had this dumbfounded look on their face because they obviously didn't realize that Miss Honey Dijon was not a "Miss" either, haha...

As for girls in EDM clubs...some of you other guys are funny :D Any girls with whom I've partied say the same about guys at EDM clubs...they complain that they're either too drunk, coked up, high on e, are morons who can't string together a coherent sentence, and that many just won't take "no" for an answer. I wouldn't put the % of sketchy, drug-lovin' girls any higher than the % sketchy, drug-lovin' guys at an EDM club.

So maybe these girls are just tired of all the losers that they have to endure everytime they go out and are unfortunately less open when a nice guy comes around (whether you guys qualify as "nice guys" is debateble ;) j/k).

HouseJunkie...you're right...very little attitude at gay events...the similarities with the EDM scene are actually quite striking...many people party hard, all night long, with generally a positive vibe and very little drama (well, no violent drama :D) I've *never* witnessed physical violence at a gay event.

I've resigned myself to the fact that a lot of people dismiss gays and the gay scene becuase they find gay sex revolting. Gays are not asking anyone to "like" gay sex, lol...just not to dismiss their orientation as "irrelevant" or dismiss them as people altogether.

I'd say that the reason many find gays to be reasonably openminded is simply by way of them understanding what it's like to be part of a marginalized minority that until recently hasn't been afforded the protections (or acceptance) that other minorities are afforded. I can only imagine the a more flamboyantly gay black man must endure on occassion...

To put this in more personally relevant terms for some of the str8 guys...nevermind that big, 'fag hag' stereotype (although it's true, lol), hot girls love gay men (and of course we love them too!). Why? Because we treat them with respect and have no ulterior sexual motives for being their friends...so they can relax and know that there's no "front" being put up. So be nice to the gays and maybe they'll put in a good word with their hot, single, hetero female friends for you, LOL ;)

I've obviously got too much time on my hands here at work...

Ok I have a question to throw out to you guys. I am doing a research project on how visual images (ie pictures taken at parties) help to create community within the EDM scene...... I have found that they do help with the 'general' EDM scene but because the gay scene has its own sense of community can you tell me how (if at all) the visual images can affect the scene????

Thanks PM me if you want to know more

I actually totally agree with that. Even though i wouldn't put myself in the hot girl category, i find that i'm a hell of a lot more comfortable around gay guys, mainly because i can be myself, act the way i want, and not be scared that lines might be crossed, feelings might develop, and person(s) might get hurt.

Most gay men are incredibly chill to hang out with. Okay i'm not talking "Miss Princess" type gays, because for some reason those guys scare me a little (not to mention the fact that a lot of them are incredibly bitchy :(). It's the advantage of hanging out with someone who has the same sexual inclination as you, yet without having to endure all the crap most girls put other girls through. I love it! :D
