In order to be a promoter you have to PROMOTE something. The promoter did such a horrid job in the first place. Also I said this to several people last night Austin was not ready for NU NRG.
Eternal still has not developed a following and when they get close they fk it all up by having a hip hop night or something. Eternal should have done what all clubs do when they open get the big time headliners to come out first and develop a name for yourself then you can bring in lesser known acts such as NU NRG cause by then you will have the reputation of throwing some kicks ass parties so people will attend regardless of who is playing.
PS Apparently Sky is also not going to have any more electronic shows as well. :( RIP Austin scene. It was good while it lasted. |
*sigh* |

Move to Dallas, if anywhere. Their scene is probably the most consistent of Texas. And their crowd can't be beat. :D |
I was hearing from a few that the clubs their are catering more to the mainstream..pretty much the same mess houston was going through. If and Dallas TA's could confirm this.. iono, just been hearing Dallas has been going through a slump with the rest of TX.
The only place that seems like its doing anything is Antro in San Antonio. Yeah its a julio haven..but I had a great time there at donald glaude. Place has some potential.. who knows |

Well as for me not getting a signature..Nope!!..got one. Just dont know how..:D . But yeah..Austin wasnt ready for Nu NRG....i knew it when i didnt see the place full, kinda felt bad..but i tried to show everyone i was having a good time, hope they saw that from up there. :D Oh..and btw..theres this club that just opened up..and its ..Underground, called " BarCelona " , walked by the other day and they where playing some progressive..so i went in check the place out, its kinda small, but shiet..its down stairs..and they are new and maybe would not mind haveing their new club exposed to clientel.
Also Vicci is rather new..and i know the Dj their and ive requested him to play Tiesto - traffic..and the foo does, those Benni benasi along with a few others..so maybe just need to hit the right places and the right times. :conf: ..anyhow, i had a blast..and Im trying to get Ronski Speed to come down to texas...so...who knows..That could be our next event here, up to the promotors. *crosses fingers*. |

Not going to lie, we do have a lot of electronic shows and a good scene holding strong. Granted a lot of these people take it for granted and they're very picky and choosy to who they want to see since there are so many events and stuff going on. I'm not going to lie Dallas is spoiled, but eventually when the hits the fan they'll see how lucky we are. That's why I go and support every event I can while its still here.
But yes most clubs in Dallas have switched to more of a hip-hop top 40 crowd. The thing is, every club in Dallas is doing it so no club really has anything to offer. So now they're trying out different nights of EDM and hip hop. It's the most confusing mess. I wish I had enough money to open a club, we could call it TXTA Super club. :eyes: :stongue: 6 stories of every type of EDM you could think of :disbelief . |

Yeah, it was a little bittersweet not getting to play, but it was Nu NRG...so there's not much room to complain. They totally lived up to their idol personas in my eyes and I will always remember them playing Dreamland and Aloa P live. Wow, I still can't believe it!!!
Sorry to hear you didn't get paid Matt. Packer and I get paid squat regularly, but we only have to drive an hour to get there. I feel bad that paying clubbers tip us and we have to take it, because we can't get home without it. BTW, thanks for introducing me to your sister...I just wish I hadn't been a stuttering idiot when I talked to her : (
You played a rocking set man and earned your opening spot. I personally would not have accepted the slot if you asked us to take it, but it means a lot that you thought of us. I always have the Baby Anne show this weekend to look forward to, so no worries.
Good to meet you guys and it was a pleasure eating dinner with you. I got to throw Pete the finger and have camera eveidence of it and I also got to see Armando hanging with all the chicks, so I know who to hang out with now!!! Thanks for the props on the mix Edie...I still can't believe I stumped a TA with my tracks: )
It was an unforgettable night and it would be sad to see Eternal go away, but I've had fun there and maybe it will be a lesson to those running it on how important consistency and promotion are to a club. No one is perfect and I hold no grudges to anyone. Lets cross our fingers and see what happens: )
BTW, big thanks to JoJo for putting this together. It was a great time and I'm sorry the turnout wasn't what you had hoped for. Best of luck and you know you can ask us for help if you need it.
Giuseppe and Andrea (like they're gonna read it), you guys did an excellent job and made a dream for many of us come true because we spent many times playing your music to others, but to see it played live was just an experience. I know it wasn't what you're used to in terms of size and turnout...but you didn't let that keep you from playing your hearts out for us. I know you were tired as well, yet you still stayed behind and chatted with us and signed records for us. You are true professionals in every way and we were honored you came to play for us here in Austin. Many thanks. |

Well..good news is that if I can pick up a job within the week or two, it wont be too much of a financial setback. FOr now on tho I have to be much stricter with the conditions I play out of town on; for instance I do not leave houston without recieving a check for at least half of the promised payment prior to, and a signed contract making the promoters liable for payment. I am sure this will cost me alot of potential gigs out of town, but I cannot financially afford to play out without having travel expenses covered..the music I order from www.beatport.com and other online record stores aint free either. Exposure is nice...but I am finished doing favors for those who only use them to their advantage. All I will say.
However..I do appreciate Jojo and the management at Eternal for the opportunity to perform in Austin. The sound system was one of the best I have gotten to play on and the crowds there on the dates I played were great.

Nah man...my sister aint even like that. There are alot of women out who are stuck up, but that definitely aint her. The only people she looks down on are julios, jerks, and players. Anyone who is a decent all around good guy, she can be a friend of. She just isn't interested in dating anyone tho so dont feel bad (school, dance, etc comes first, etc etc) But nah she said you were cool |

Dave & Packer, I didn't realize you weren't even making gas $. Damn. You all are true Trance Addicts. Bittersweet that that show was Eternal's swan song (if it is, indeed, it's swan show), but what a way to go!
