unless I want my car to start giving me problems. I have a new car and it's a V-6...it won't run well on cheap gas. Plus I will up something in the fuel injector. my dad has a new car and he began to put the cheap gas and the fuel light came on and he tells me his car shakes so I'm pretty scared, I'd rather just spend a little more money and keep my car in top condition then have to spend a massive amount of money to fix something in it :nervous:

you will not have a problem using low octane fuel in your car. If your father was using Shell a while back, yes it would have affected the fuel gauges & yes the fuel light would have come on, but would not affect the performance of his veh. He may have had other problems with his car. Shell had problems back then during the ending of last year because of the way the fuel was being made. Too much sulfur was being used & it was affecting the fuel gauges & sending units. even then all that has been resolved & things are working back to normal for them.
but in any case your car should not require you to use 93(premium) octane fuel. You should check you owners manual cuz you are paying too much money in gas when you can be saving alot more. Your owners manual in the fuel section will state that your car can use regular unleaded & it will not state you have to use PREMIUM. SAVE YOURSELF SOME MONEY>>
Now unles your owners manual specifies to use PREMIUM fuel, you can use Regular without any problems.
I've been using Chevron with the last 3 cars I've had (89-mustang 5.0/ 85-t-bird & my current 98 civic) & have not had a problem since day one.

I wish it were that way but my car does say premium unleaded fuel only which is even on the fuel cap door itself. Believe me I want to save money I wish I could stick my car with the cheapest which is not even that cheap to begin with but I haven't because I don't want to go against what the manuel says if I do I'm afraid I'll mess something up. It sucks too because I just want to save money. every 2 days I have to fill my tank again. now days to have a v-6 is not worth it. but I can't do much but suck it up.
you're right about the shell though...that IS how my dads car got damaged he was using Shell for a long time while it had the sulfur issue.
thanks though for your help. :D |
