Gabriel & Dresden =/= New Sasha & Digweed

dumbest question EVER.

Absolutely not.

they are two DJ's - that's the only connection, not even the same league

There is no way you can compare Gabriel & Dresden to Sasha & Digweed because one duo sticks usually to productions while the other sticks with DJing, even though once in awhile they switch off.

I don't see honestly what the big hype over Gabriel & Dresden is. Early in their career they did some good remixes, then came the overplayed ATRC, but other than that I don't see so much that is spectacular and on the same level as Sasha & Digweed's careers. The one difference I notice between the two is that, for the most part, everything Sasha and/or Digweed come out with is gold, while with Gabriel & Dresden I find it is hit or miss.

As for James Zabiela, I think of him as the new Sasha for the younger generation of electronic music listeners, even though he doesn't spin the same style as Sasha.

worst thread of the year. Next thing you know we'll be trying to compare Metallica with Craig David

no ing way +1

my opinion is basically a compilation of loads of things already said in this thread

- g&d are more of a production duo, s&d are more of a dj'ing duo
- g&d were good around 2002, then became cheesy pop crap right about when all the hype around them started
- sasha's set aren't ing laid back right now. neither digweed's if he's playing a similar vibe than the fabric compilation
- which leads us to this point: the comparison makes no sense since their (g&D vs s&d) styles are actually a bit different nowadays

apart, i actually don't rate sasha neither digweed as top producers. for sasha, sure he had loads of excellent tracks under his name but most of them have the finger of other quality producers (like the-now-not-so-underrated charlie may since everyone has to mention him 10 times everytime someone talks about sasha. i'm sure 9 more guys will talk about him in this thread). digweed, well ok he had heaven scent. and emerald, which no-one cares about but i ing love it. thing is, he's had a small bunch of big hits but not really an impressive extensive discography.

For the bashers:
Read the start of thread again, I never said G e D are more important than S e D... I did a comparison...
Go listen some sammy to relax ur butts...

Now on topic:
I agree with paranoiko...

About productions:
G e D produced more quality stuff, Sasha and Digweed era is remembered ONLY for Heaven Scent and Xpander... only"!!!
Only for Sasha newbies, I could complete:
Sasha`s Airdrawndagger is not part of S e D times... and like paranoik0 said.. there are Charlie Underrated May involved in the album (8 people left to talk about Charlie May hehe :P ), and that UTTER OVERRATED BORING BLOODLOCK is produced with Junkie XL and James Holden...

About mixing:
Any intelligent person that understand mixing could listen to Northern Exposure 1, 2 e 3 and see how S e D mixing is supreme above Bloom.
Talking about livesets: nobody in the thread said G e D mixes are better...

So the veredict is:
G e D are better producing while S e D was good djing...

And for the babies saying this is the OMG worst thread EVAH~!!!11 I think u are only people without arguments that likes threads like:
"Post best trance track ever here"
"Insert top 10 month here."
"Woot woot~!!! Whats that asot tune?!"

By the way, thanks for the mature people that enjoyed the "healthy" discussion...

You need a swift kick in the ass. Just what the do you want S&D to do? Produce dozens of average tracks, so they can brag about "having experience"? , you are stupid. All of G&D's crap sounds exactly the same, you just like twinkly little melodies. Quantity over quality, eh? Bah.

G&D are pop music, and they can just off.
