Paul Martin's "save my ass" address to the nation.

Here was my prediction on another message board about what he was going to say:

My prediction:

-He will congratulate himself for calling the inquiry in the first place.

-He will try and make it seem like the opposition is evil for asking questions about the inquiry when there are "better things to worry about" (criminal activity isnt important enough i guess)

-He will try and convince Canada that calling an election should wait until Nov. That way he can try and spin doctor his way out of this over the summer, or hope that the public forgets which they have in the past

-he will try and convince us that the Liberals are the only party that can "save" canada from seperatists (meanwhile seperatism is gaining strength thanks to this scandal)

ALL BULL

If Canadians buy this crap he is about to shovel tomorrow night then we are dumber than i thought.

He wont suspend the inquiry because at this point that would pretty much be the final nail in his coffin.

WOW!! Not only was this his entire speech. But he said it in exactly the same itemized order that i listed it here. Shows you how predictable this guy is.

What a bunch of arrogant tripe. He goes on tv like this to try and save his ass. BRING ON THE ELECTION!

Wow.. look at Harper go after the Quebecers.

Harper was absolutely correct when he asked how we can expect the person who was the number 2 man in the administration during all the corruption to be trusted with cleaning it up?

Remember that Martin was finance minister at the time. There is no way he didnt know what was going on and if by chance he didnt, he must be very incompetent.

Its too bad Gilles Duceppe is a traitorous seperatist because not only is he a great public speaker, but he makes a lot of very very valid arguements.

And now we have Jack Layton ignoring the issue as usually and ranting about child care and Kyoto. GET WITH THE PROGRAM JACK! YOU IDIOT!

takes guts to make that speach though when the party is hanging by a thread. i'm nervous about the next election though, going to be a scary one for sure. (of course 40% of eligible voters not exercising their right doesn't help much)

Guts? More like desperatism. He knows hes finished. Make no mistake, this speech was made out of desperation to try and change voters minds. What would have taken guts would have been for him to announce he was calling an election to allow the public to decide for themselves.

Didn't anyone tell Harper to use the washroom before giving his address?

He serves his purpose well.

I turned it off in the middle of M. Duceppe's address as the interpreter on the particular station I was on was getting on my nerves. I agree with you, he would make an excellent Prime Minister if it weren't for his separatist background. He has more statesman in his fingernail trimmings than Mr. Harper will ever have.

i say 'guts' because his party is ed, to even face the tv in front of all of Canada. but obviously it was a desperate plee, would you expect anything else?
