The story reappeared on CP 24's site too.
And the ironic part is that If this woman hadnt been a single mother the media wouldnt give a .
In other news a man was shot in a highrise today. I guess they should step up security at highrises? Oh but most people are familiar with highrises and know that they arent that unsafe for the most part, so u cant scare people that way can you?
I hate the media...

Michelle Bless spared no effort in spreading the word about her birthday bash at the Jamaican-themed restaurant Prestige Palace last Saturday. She told all her friends, printed up flyers, and even advertised on a Web site.
Sadly, any fun the birthday girl had that night would be overshadowed by grief at the loss of partygoer Livvette Miller, who was fatally shot in the head in the early hours of the morning when gunmen entered the nightclub and opened fire.
“I heard ‘pop.’ Then I heard ‘pop pop pop pop pop,’” said attendee Yvonne Reid. “I turned around and I saw Livvette on the floor, and I saw blood coming from her head. For that minute there, I lost it.”
Six other people were injured in the spray of bullets, including a co-owner of the restaurant, located at Finch Ave. W. and Weston Rd. in North York.
There were a lot of people at the party unknown to Bless, including Miller.
“All my instinct was to have a birthday party and enjoy myself with my friends. I didn’t expect gunmen to come into the club and shoot it up,” she said.
Restaurant owners hired security for the occasion, and all the patrons were supposed to be patted down head to toe. That said, somehow at least two armed men managed to make their way inside. It’s unsure who their target was, or if they even had a target, but it certainly wasn’t the 26-year-old mother of four.
“The security was new there, but before they started working they assured us they were professional security. They knew this club,” Bless said.
Sadly, it’s believed Miller might have actually left the club earlier, but accidentally locked her keys in her car, so she returned to the scene of the eventual crime to wait for help.
The young woman had been going through difficult times – her husband died of cancer last year and most days were spent caring for her children. She moved them to Brampton in the hopes of starting fresh. But that dream was shattered when the bullet ended her life. The kids are now in the custody of Livvette’s mother.
Neither Bless nor Reid saw the shooters, but both urge anyone who did to contact police. If you have any information that can help investigators, call the Homicide Squad at (416) 808-7400 or Crime Stoppers at (416) 222-TIPS.

In amsterdam.. i heard trance in the street.
Why cant people follow the dutch???????:(
When my friends want to go to a club.. the first question i ask is.. will they play hip hop?? IF the answer is yes...i REFUSE to go.
I hate that piece of scene and the pathetic patrons that folllow it |

Hip Hop held its ground for too long in popular culture. It's gotta go. I'm sure deadly gun violence in clubs wasn't even remotely as bad back in the days of alternative rock being #1.
What pisses me off the most about shootings happening amongst the hip hop demographic, is that this will bring about change (in terms of increased pressure from the po-po) for the entire clubbing industry. Not just the hip hop clubs but all clubs in general. What does that mean? Crackdown at our fav. hangouts.

Quote from the news on CP 24 the other night on the "afterhours scene" in RE: to the shooting at Prestige.
"people out at night at these clubs 2, 3, 4 in the morning - the only people out of this time of night - are the scum" WTF!?!?!
those people who are in bed every night by 10:00 PM WERE right!!! The DEVIL is about at night!!! - what a BS comment - from someone on the police force... :whip:
I thought we TA's were quite a fun a good spirited bunch - alas we have been relegated to a crackwhore mentality and pimp pushing our way around the fair streets of Toronto --- WE ARE THE C.H.U.D.
Cannabalistic Humanoid Underground Dwellers (oldskool!!)

No disrespect to the normal people that like it but...
HIP HOP SUCKS! pass the werd around guys
Maybe if we all say it like this...it will go away like Disco did
Truthfully though, the media only covered it b/c they had nothing better to report. That still does not mean that they are about to close down our clubs. I think it's just an isolated issue and they will only close down that bar/restaurant. Vocalize all they want...but the moment they try to impose an early close down...they will get more than what they bargained for (and I'm hoping it will be from peeps like us, the club owners and businesses)
hehehehe Maybe we should do a 5:30 am silent protest along the club district...all the clubbers walking the streets to protest a close down, followed by a 6:30 am peaceful rally at Queens Park to voice out our concern. Maybe disrupting morning rush traffic by a peaceful march will get their attention
...of course we'd need someone dynamic enough to do some kind of speach at the steps...about our rights to entertainment in this city :toothless |
