You should travel around the Commonwealth a little bit there mate. Maybe not a final between Australia and England (like that will ever happen anyway) but I can tell you for certain a lot of Aussies, like Canadians and even Yanks would root for England over the Gerries, the Italians, Brazil, etc. In 2002, England vs Brazil, the English were the overwhelming favourite in Asia among the fans as well as around the world. maybe it's because they've found spectacular ways to lose big games the last 30 years and have some sympathy.
There are still some strong passions around the world among people who have direct ancestral links to England. Plus, England has flashy and stylish players who attract neutral fans...plus the fact that they invented the game anyway. |

Maybe english were favourites because they were underdogs? most neutrals will faovur the underdogs. Next match the same people who supoorted england might of supoorted the oppisition depending on who is was.
SO the reason they support england is because they has flashy and stylish players? so that why they supported england over brazil? Cos england have flasier and more stlyish players then brazil? :stongue: :stongue: good one! |

well come on now...don't be an obtuse Irishman. Players like Rooney, Beckham, etc are marketed more in neutral markets, etc.
Anyway, England players might not be as flashy as Brazilians...but they're sure more likable. Who can honestly like horse face?
Just because you're an England hater doesn't mean the rest of the world is. Hardly. |

The best thing is he had Rooney in the sentence above!! :D |

| And the reason Asia supports England is thanks to Sheff Utd signing Ho Hi Dong (or whatever his name is!) who is the most famous Chinese player ever (not that he's ever played a game for us like!!) |

True. The thing is you're also e, but believe you are brilliant so you end up doing the thing your international travelling mob have become most famous for.

| To be fair you'd be hard pressed to find a team in the world right now who are better than England (on paper anyway) |

On paper England should be one of the best teams in the world but I'm not sure we have the strength in depth of some of the other big teams. I'd say in central defence we are spoilt for choice, with the likes of Woodgate, Terry, Ferdinand and Campbell fighting for two places, not to mention players like Carragher, Brown and King who can't even get near the first team.
Paul Robinson and Joe Cole look like solving our weaker spots in Goal and Left midfield but we have no real backup. Downing is a decent left winger but nowhere near world class, while Wright-Phillips or Dyer could do a job on the left wing. After Gary Neville we don't really have any cover at right back either.
So basically in three positions (Goal, left midfield and right back) we would be short if we got injuries, but everywhere else I think we have good cover. |

Yeah, the team looks great on paper (although I'd pick the Brazilians over them), it's just that the team seems to lack the resilience to succeed in major tournaments. They always seem to bottle it... |

we get to at least the quarters in almost every comp we enter
when scotland start actually qualifying for these things regularly, then you can start sayin England are e ;) |

Sorry, I was born in Brazil and grew up in France.
I can voice my opinion when the I want regardless of if I come from Brazil or Cambodia or wherever. If that's all you're going to mention, then your attempts to form a semi-intelligent retort are laughable. |
