What has happened to this scene??? (pg. 2)

Fair enough. I suppose you could use the word 'plur' to describe how you want to see the rave scene act.

PLUR(noun)
The acronym of rave culture, PLUR has probably become the most meaningless, exploited, over-promoted, over-hyped, ill-appreciated, mismanaged, misunderstood, idealistically naive ideology yet produced by Western Civilization.

I am not attacking... wait, yes I am.. I don't like Candy Kids. I don't like Ginos. I don't like Posers. Those are the people ruining 'the scene' -the quotations really add some underlying message, doesn't it?- So what if they come to 'have fun or party'.. there are plenty of places they can do that.. why come and use a rave as an excuse to do drugs? It makes no sense. Especially when it isn't 'their scene' (ooh.. I really like those quotations.)

LOL... since when did queers and drag queens stop coming to parties?
And the reason minorities come to 'raves' and are accepted is because everyone's on some mind-altering drug! If you're trying to lay the blame of this 'scene failure' on me, because I'm bitter.. you're way off the mark. Perhaps we want different things for 'this scene'. I want a pure, unadultered rave scene. One where everyone there is there because they love the music, not because it trips them out, but because it's what they love, or there are so many drugged up, willing women.

A spade's a spade; shameless, is what it is.

You seem to want a never ending, drug-fueled media circus. One that gives us bad publicity and drags 'our scene's' name through the mud.

So there, we stand divided on our opinions. I've given mine.
I apologize now for the bitter accent on my reply, but this topic is a sticking point for me, as it is for you, I would guess.

Heh. You guys have to understand that I'm not really a 'raver' anymore, I'm a gabber (for want of a better word). Hatred and resentment runs through my veins. :D

i, personally, usually just try to ignore labelling people as much as possible. it may be easier most of the time, but especially when you are ripping on people, its gonna start to cause problems...cause people that you may label 'gino' or 'candy kid' wont necessarily represent what you believe those labels to represent. and no matter how much one person professes to 'know' about culture of any type, there will be 5 people that know more and have had more experience, so i dont want to make too many accusations about who sucks and why...go for the love (and NO this isnt PLUR) and learn to laugh instead of hate. cause if you aint having fun, then dont surround yourself with it...late/

Hmmmm.......

Well maybe it's just different down here, but in Melbourne all the wankers who just want to get ed off their face (in this case on alcohol) and pull are the ones who go to the clubs: go to any genuine "rave" (or whatever you want to call it - an underground event anyway) and yeah, there'll be a lot of drug use, but there is never any doubt in my mind whenever I go to one of these things, that the people there are in it for the music.

I go to a commercial club, and the fact is, unless I've had about 12 beers, I just can't stand the places. The music is e, the crowd is e (all there either to pull or to look cool), and I really do dislike them for the same reasons that you, b.s.e., say you hate "raves". Now I'm still more of a clubber than a raver, because I do, I must say, prefer the atmosphere of a genuine club to some herbal party in the middle of the mountains (sorry to all Earthcore fans :D ), but any time that I go to any commercial club, I just feel like stabbing out my eyes with sharpened cue-tips.

What's my point then?

Well, like everything else I guess, my point is "each to their own". If you don't like raves then steer clear of them, don't tell people who are enjoying themselves that they are wrong to be doing what they are doing. Are they hurting anyone? Are they hurting you? Do you really have anything to moan about at all?

Well, anyway......

You understand that I said that in jest, Proximus. ƒº But that doesn¡¦t stop me from resenting the sad state of this scene.
Perhaps ¡¥hate¡¦ is too strong a word, resent is a better one. Please don¡¦t resent me for stating my opinions, or call me a ¡¥disgrace¡¦. Now you¡¦re just mud-slinging. I don¡¦t want to be a gabber. I am a gabber. And from this, I can observe from an outside view what ¡¥the scene¡¦ has become. And it has become quite ty. I used to be enthralled with the party scene.. until I became a gabber, and it changed my views on the rave scene totally. I saw a bunch of people (25-100) having a blast in a tiny record store, no one (less a few) was any sort of drug, but the vibe was wicked. I was instantly reformed. I didn¡¦t denounce the party scene right away, rather I kept on going.. but I enjoyed it less and less when I saw what people were there for.. DRUGS.
My entire point is that it makes me angry to see a room completely stacked with messed up people. That¡¦s not what I want to see. I want to see people having fun without drugs at a party.. but I know that will never be, because the scene is too infiltrated with posers and ginos and candy kids. They come to a rave because they think it¡¦s a great place to do drugs and party. Which it is. But when 75% of all people there aren¡¦t there because they are a part of the scene (let¡¦s call them the ¡¥casual ravers¡¦) it makes me angry/sad/bitter. I won¡¦t deny that a hit of E or something else makes your party experience fun, I just resent seeing all those ¡¥casual ravers¡¦ and no real ones. Now, you might argue what ¡¥a real raver¡¦ is. I¡¦d say it was someone who is involved with the scene, someone who can name a few tracks in their fav dj¡¦s set, someone who loves the music, someone who doesn¡¦t find out where the party is from their friend¡¦s brother¡¦s friend¡¦s friend.

Renegade - -

Yes, I am afraid they are hurting us. Our name, our dignity, and our reputation. They have stereotyped us and I¡¦m sick of it. I know there isn¡¦t much to do about, because those bastards will come no matter what.. so I vent. Anyways.. peace.
Miss Proximus
You make a a bit angry cuz you don't have the slightest idea what a gabber is d00d.

Are you from Holland? NO! Did the gabberscene start in Holland? YES!!! Am I from Holland? YEAH!!!

A gabber is someone that listens to gabber and terror...not someone who feels better than the rest of the scene he/she is in...so if you wanna be special...please....use another word....for pete's sake.

p.s....you know what? compared to any other scene in the world: the gabber scene is the scene that uses the MOST drugs d00d:rolleyes: bet you dont wanna be a gabber now

Although not as upset about drug-users as B.S.E. - I do agree on the ginos and posers.
Living in little ultra-conservative Denmark, I rarely get a chance to go raving, but when I do I go nuts on the dancefloor. Same way with one of my friends - except his dancing is *really* extreme. And I simply hate it when I open my eyes after a wonderful build-up and see some big bloke (with no shirt) laughing and pointing at me - or my friend. One night at Manumission people were actually forming a circle around my friend, taking pictures of him.
These people don't come for the music and I agree with B.S.E. in that they take some of the magic away from the rest of us. After all, I would *never* go to a country-festival just to marvel at the fantastic outfits and laugh at their ugly haircuts. If you're not actively contributing to the party I reckon you ought to stay at home.

ok, too much txt on this thread....

BSE, if u wanna escape em: move to Holland, we dont got them freaky candy ravers here, nor have we got ppl that just go sit in the middle of the dancefloor, cuz theyll be sure to get their asses kicked royally...

here the ppl go to a rave 1. to go to a party (but just raves like TE, Innercity n stuff, so u wont see em at like good raves) 2. to do drugs 3. for the music, the atmosphere, the feeling, "to party"

bse are you sure you aren't an infamous member of these forums called Dj Juicy J 187?

*sigh*
Perhaps in Holland, friend Proximus. Do you live in Canada? NO!! Is there a difference in the Canadian Gabber Scene compared to the Holland Scene? YES! Am I from Canada? YEAH!!!
So how do you get all high and mighty on me like that, because you used to be a gabber? You're stance is quite aggrivating and relatively uninformed (like most opinions...even mine. :D)
I'm not trying to make myself feel special, I used the word once and you jumped all over me. It was said, originally, in a joking term.. not as an excuse for my behavior (which needs no excuse.)
and d00d, I don't know what kind of drugged up rotters are running around your parties, but it's quite different over here. Two different countries, that have two different hardcore scenes? NO WAY!..oh wait.. yes, way.

That's entirely ignorant. Are you insinuating something, Proximus?

Seriously, this argument is has no relevance to my thread. I'm not going to argue about it further here. If you have anything further to say, please PM me.

Gekhous : I would love to move to Holland! My Gawd! I've got 900 bucks saved so far, for when my friends and I go to Amsterdam..hehe.

PVD Trance: I won't dignify that a response.

Trancaholic: Thank you for seeing my point :). that's all I wanted, really. Not to generate some flame war with a 'fellow gabber' and the rest of the forums. Oy vey. This place is too opinionated to have a decent, normal conversation.
