I think that many people in the culutre enjoyed the sense of community that they found at raves. Personally I missed the good times in toronto like 6 years ago, being that I only got into the scene like 3 years ago (scene of course being a lover of trance, which has me going more clubs to see big DJ's rather than the candy raves). The ones I have been to are small and are never filled to capacity, but I see those cracked kids sitting against the wall and find no sense in being that far away from your bed just to do drugs. If they were there for the music, then they ed up their night cause I dont think plain english would make sense to them. My ideal party would be 30 of my friends + 30 their friends and one really huge dj. But its unrealisitic, until I make my billions. So deal with it, cause thats what you got right now, unless you know of something better, then tell me.
Community is a fantastic thing to have, and when to many people invade it, then it loses that closeness that you loved in the beginning.
For me it goes like this, I love the trance and I will go where ever I have to to listen to it loud and with lights. I have pulled many sober nights, many stoned nights, many drunk nights, and two E nights. The e nights were amazing cause of the dj's (tiesto and AVB) but i know that if I do E for no reason other than its a night out, its not gonna come close and its not neccesary.
This world is ed up place, be happy you dont have to worry about people blowing themselves up and killing you or your friends. If you like the djs go check em out, whether there is sketchies around or not. As cheesy as it sounds, its all about the music, and the more and more you follow that, the more chance you have of arriving at an event with good people all around you. |

I totally agree with you ABT!! But we dont NEED a pill to do that even. I think that bse and gekhous need to realize we arent all out to get them. YES we know they dont like drugs, YES we know bse started the thread, but this discussion isnt really off topic. We have gone from bashing a bunch of stereotypical people (lame) to discussing the gabber scene in CA and NL. Honestly, if the opinions on how much all candy kids and 'posers' suck, i wouldnt post because those are sweeping generalizations that really DONT apply to real life. I also agree with bug_bite in how this thread should die now...its obvious we cant get anywhere with it...late/:confused: |

I have read your posts, but it doesnt change the fact that you or bse refuse to acknowledge the possibility that other people may have opinions, or that you might be wrong. Im not trying to attack everyone, but when you guys come out of the gate swinging about how much ginos and candy ravers and drugs suck, you truly fail to acknowledge other peoples standpoints, beliefs and reasons.

I have never told you to shut the up about anything, even this topic- and i dont agree with you guys. I have been in the 'scene' for several years, not 7, but thats not the point. I loved it because everyone was nice and accepting, drugs or not- and i dont agree with people that bash others who arent exactly the same as them because thats what makes the rave scene so cool. What the scene do without is closed minded people that fight change, or the status quo with anger...late/ |

hey I've been reading all the posts.. and I personally have never been to a rave because of the drugs. I love the music, dont get me wrong, but I always avoid them because of the drugs.
I got a devout love 4 tha music. I think drugs have and will continue to destroy what everyone calls "the scene" so i just avoid it entirely
i got nothing against all you who love to go out there and get hammered, hell your havin a good time right? its just not for me.. ultimatley i guess i'm hoping somthing molded from BSE's ideals will come true and somthing great will be made, but whatever, im cool with anything
BSE's unadulturated orthodox raves would be really cool, and ideal, but till then I dont think I'll be hittin any raves netime soon.. just keep following the trance scene, keep my love 4 it all goin :) |

see that makes sense and i repect that view completely. its just prolly not possible because so much of the music is engrained in the drug scene. is it just a coincidence that the best music is generally made by those who use drugs? obviously you could debate this, but it IS pretty much true...music=partying, and partying (will eventually)= some method of making it MORE fun (ie drugs). I think the best thing about the rave scene is that you can despise the drugs, but if you truly love the music, you can go and not use drugs and have fun too...as long as you can understand some people have fun with them...late/ |

Ok here is my two cents on this! I know I know everyone is sick of this thread but I just want to spill my guts.
I've been into this scene since '95. Music was and still is the reason for me to stay a part of this scene.
Yes, I too have found my self frustrated a lot of the times over ginos, posers, candy kids and other ******s. But in the last 2 months or so, I just stoped caring about all those ******s that ruin the nights for me.
I mean I used to stress ever since I went to my first party, but I felt excepted all the time! And that's another reason I love the scene.
I am the one who is cashing out to go see a DJ at an event, and I am the one who wants to have a good time. I found that the best solution to anyone of your problems at a rave is to have a group of friends. I loved how all the Trance-Addicts in Toronto during the STATE'01 came out and represented. This has totaly changed my opinion about the scene. I mean there are those ******s that try to ruin your night. But who gives a when you know you have friends with you that love the music as much as you do. That and another solution to the problem is to have more than a few drinks, I don't really like the idea of drugs, but I will admit that I have had some experince with it. And I liked it. I was always oposed to drug use, but now I find that some how it just brings me to another level with the music and the people that are enjoying the night.
I mean there are ppl in life that you over all the time and that try to make your life miserable. I mean i just could not go on like that all the time. I think, I am the only person I know that used to strees about the smallest things in life. I am not trying to change anyone's opinion, I am just saying: 'going through life with "I don't give a attitude" is so much easier that worrying about all the time"
