can someone please explain how to perform a stereo mix bus with Live 8? Never mixed that way before..

Not sure what you mean but if your trying to follow the first post (aint read the rest) by sending kick and bass to be compressed together then..
Select your kick and bass channel while holding Ctrl, then when highlited press Ctrl + G to group them, place the comp on the group channel.

I actually know what you mean. Also a lot of people contributing in even this thread (2008, which isn't even that old) are not around here anymore and they used to be avid posters.
