san diego is very much 2fast2furious. my friend gets all kinds of "OMG, that's dumb" when he tells poeple that he doesn't like body kits, underbody lights or the fact he painted over his CF hood.
i personally enjoy seeing a car at the track look completely stock except when they run and you're like "awesome sleeper" |

this thread is ed up.
to the guy with the camry, i want to see pics and proof of your times (if you can) as well. its kinda hard to believe your FWD can do 4.9 in the 0-60. with all the power you claim to have, traction would be an issue as you'd be getting mad wheel hop. oh and whats the deal with the 'dual intakes' you mentioned in the first page?
second of all, whoever said the 2nd gen GS-R engine is the best is just dreaming. a B18C equiped with LSD tranny from factory is far far better not to mention the real deal engines are the k20a from the integra type r (DC5-R) in japan.
as for the original poster. congrats! sounds to me like you bought yourself a 97 GSR. i have a 95 GSR and its a pretty fun car to drive. as for upgrades, you should do lots of research before buying or putting anything on. as most people just jump into modifying their cars and they just end up 'lego building' their setup and end up disatisfied when they run on the dyno.
as for the comment on the carbon fiber hood, most people don't even know the real purpose of having one and how it will affect their cars. for a car like an integra, it is nose heavy since its an FF. removing excessive weight from the front would help balance the weight distribution closer to 50F/50R which helps in overall handling. the unfortunate part of this modification is that most people leave their CF hoods unpainted and makes for a tacky look on their cars. granted painting it will only add more weight to it but of course its their call. i personally don't rock anything carbon fiber just for the sake of having carbon fiber. if i ever got anything cf, i would have painted it.
as for VTEC, in a way it is overated. however, it is useful in that you are able to use higher profile, more aggressive cams without sacrificing street-ability. remember, VTEC motors idle using the smaller cam lobe and continue to use them until VTEC activates and uses the bigger aggressive cam lobe. for most people who are modding their hondas to be quicker, their honda is also their daily driven car. having a VTEC motor helps them achieve bigger power numbers while keeping it usable in their daily purposes. |

Weight distribution can be further increased by relocating the battery to the trunk area, which is another popular "mod".
Of course I'm sure you already know this Mark, but I'm just trying to inform the very mis-informed posters of this thread. |

hey kurt!
its been a long time. how ya doin? your g2 is looking sexy. :)
one more issue about the CAI. its actually quite deceiving as its not really taking in 'cold air' to do its job. the discrepancy in temperature between CAI intakes and SRI intakes are very minor. the results were posted on team-integra.net.
i'm not going to go in the whole details about it but basically, on a honda anyway, a CAI will increase mid-range power and a SRI will increase high end power. it has very little to do with cold or hot air. it has more to do with piping length and diameter. it shifts your powerband up or down in the rpms. |

Hey, I'm doing pretty good. Got a job where I can finally support putting money into my car so I've been building it up alot recently. Almost finished with it though, I just want to put a nice sound system in it and then drive it as is from here on out.
As for the CAI/SRI debate, I believe the best designed systems are the ones that have a large diameter at the end and taper as they get closer to the manifold. |

i went to Pep Boys today and saw then latest issue of Sport Compact Car.
anyways, unlike the rest of the population, i went straight to reading the articles. Well, in their "rumors & lies" section, i see

should we make a new thread on cars or just continue in this one? |
