thats a fair amount of waiting!!

first the poms, then st kilda. dont you worry bout that soup-da-loop. ;)

what a series. i no was on the edge of my seat for every warne delivery. there wasnt a ball where he didnt threaten to take a wicket, when he did, it was a matter when the next one came. pieterson needed that, as much a talent that he is, he needed to show more ticker in pressure situations espesh in this series. that innings should shape his career. and did anyone see the fine group of lasses in the richie benaud fan club?! blimey they were all up for the beige coat alright - the beige coat of richies juices all over their faces. err yeh bring on the world XI.

Anyone know who won the Rugby World Cup?

yeah I was owned I must say though greatest series of all time. Australia didn't deserve to win and if it wasn't for Warne with both ball and bat, it would have looked really ugly.

Shake up is definitely required. I mean even most of our A side is 30+! while guys like Hussey and Hodge deserve their chance, I dont think they are long term solutions.
Trance Nutter
Martyn and Katich out.
Hussey and James Hopes in. Phil Jacques should definitely be the next opener(just carried his bat in an Aus A game).

I worry about what goes on in some people's heads!!!

haha leave him alone, his name's Jizza - what did you expect!

Good series, pity we couldn't hang on but as others have mentioned if it wasn't for Warne and Lee it would have been a hammering. Looking forward to having the Poms back in Australia next summer. We need to get the new blood in now so they are right to go.

and as for Shane Warne, the best bowler of all time? Absolute legend.

Id say yes. It was funny. Everytime the others were bowling, we could more or less guarantee to get runs. When Warne was bowling, everyone was scared :D Especially during that run chase of ~130. Absolutly nuts that was.

Fair do's to Warne, pity the rest of the team was though :)

I love the game, I've grown up on it (my dads a grade 2 umpire here, which means county 2nd XIs and the youth leagues) and it'd be going against the general spirits of the game to rub it in. You only have to look at the exchanges between Lee & Flintoff, or Warne & Pietersen to see that. Result aside, the whole spirit the series was played in was so refreshing, from the fans, the players & everyone involved.

On another note, from the poms side, it's goodbye to a legend of our screens, the face of cricket and probably the first guy who I associated cricket on tv with, Mr Benaud.

Benaud bids farewell to England
September 13, 2005

KEVIN Pietersen's marvellous effort upstaged all Australians at The Oval today, even Richie Benaud's fond farewell to English television audiences.

After 42 years in English commentary boxes, the former Australian captain signed off from his last stint on air in England as the home team closed in on Ashes glory.

But just as he signed off on Channel Four with "and it's been great fun", he had to add "but not for the batsman" after Pietersen was finally bowled by Glenn McGrath for his Ashes winning knock of 158.

Benaud, 74, made his debut for the BBC in 1963 and went on to commentate on 235 Tests.

He was overwhelmingly voted England's favourite cricket commentator earlier this year and received a standing ovation from the crowd and the players at The Oval today.

While the crowd paid tribute to Benaud, he lauded the current standard of cricket.

"The last two years have been the best I've watched and commentated on in 57 years," he said.

"It's been exciting, skilful, there's been some wonderful fielding."

Before Pietersen interrupted Benaud's goodbye, he had delivered his farewell speech.

"Thank you for having me," he said.

"It's been absolutely marvellous. I've loved every moment of it.

"It's been a privilege to be going into everyone's living room."

He will remain behind a microphone in Australia, however, as he recently signed a new three-year deal with Channel Nine.

this man was classy, never showed any bias for anyone, and had some great one liners, especially this series when Flintoff had hit warne for a huge six straight down the ground, camera pans to warnes head watching it and stays on it, and richie pipes up "it's gone son" pure legend :D

Is it all over yet? I want myth busters back for goooood :(

TCB
richie is a true legend but its good to see that he is still gonna kick on with channel 9.

im over the moon that england won like i said they would 6months ago and what a big star kevin pietersen is going to be in the future. :D
Philby
oh noes! :(
i lasted till 2:30 am, then i had to accept defeat :( and then we bowled them out finally not long after!! dammit hehe. far out what a series though, awesome matches, i was yelling and screaming all the time watching it in the middle of the night, yelling come on warney!! lol. you can't say test match cricket is boring after seeing this. well done to the poms though. it was great seeing all the people watching from the roofs and stuff, crazy! i was looking on www.cricinfo.org about richie, they did an article to find out who has seen the most tests, he's witnessed in one form or another over 400 of 1600 tests! a quarter of all the test matches ever played! thats nuts!
