DAMMMMMMMMN RIGHT! that would be sweet, even if club 246 (100.7) streamed all day that would be awesome. just something you could always count on to be good on the radio. since i have a fairly big cd collection, the radio isn't even considered to be on in my car considering the best day time radio is sadly z103. |

they played "Do What You Want (max graham afterhours mix)" yesterday. almost had a heartattack. never thought i would hear that from them.
la noche etc etc are all on tiesto's cd and increased his popularity with the mainstream crowd, yes? prolly why we hear so much more trance than before.
mind you..they are immediately followed by g-g-g-unit or some kind of like that. |

if we really want dance music in general to become more popular here it has to cross over into the mainstream .. like it has in most other parts of the world

| it's a bit of a paradox in whether or not we want z103 to play the general tunes we listen to. it's good because we can listen to it on the radio whatnot esp. if we don't have any means of listening to it otherwise (not everyone has an mp3 player in their car or whatever, although I do :p). it's bad because it'll become mainstream, overplayed and ripped out of its more lowkey zone and well as i just said, mainstream...for which we all know how that can ruin a song to shreds :sadgreen: Surprisingly as well I have heard some unique tracks I wouldn't have thought they'd play later at night on the odd day and that was it (luckily, because I don't like good tracks overplayed). So yeah end somewhat random mumbling from moi :p |

I say BRING IT ON!!
First off i avoid the radio like the plague when im in north america for obvious reasons with the exception of a few shows late at night on 100.7 or formerly the smirnoff experience.
Hoowever, im all for Z103 playing commercial dance music. And commercial dance music is exactly what you are describing with all these songs. Everyone is running around as if technotronic, max graham, deep dish and david guetta are somehow "underground". They are not. They are pop music. Yes some of them may be great tunes and clubby and its certainly much better than most of the crap on the radio, but they are far from being underground.
I hope z103 plays even more songs like this. Lets get everybody off hip hop so that we can get back to having decent music in most of our clubs again. IN one thread people are complaining because places like republik are forced to play hip hop sets and then another lambasts a radio station for playing better music to the masses. I dont get it.
If you dont want to get sick of a song then dont listen to the radio. Its that simple! But let the pions that do listen get weened off of hip hop. That way we will get our clubscene back when demand rises and everyone will be happy.
If it wasnt for energy 108 back in the early 90s i dont think we would have had half the scene that we did in toronto. Early on Energy 108 was a huge force in getting people into the more commercial aspects of dance and house music.
PLAY MORE HOUSE AND DANCE Z103!!! PLEASE!!!!!! |

Good point. energy 108 was a great driving force and z103 should pick up the ball instead of dilluting what they play by mixing in stuff everyone else listens to already. Cudos :) |

get our clubscene back? i don't understand
what the hell do you care about what the masses listen to. do your thing, listen to your music and don't think its better than everyone elses.
there is a clear distinction of whats underground and whats mainstream, i think jayx1 pointed that out pretty well. but desregard these generalizations and placements. just because some songs you listen to made it on air of some cheezy radio station doesn't make them cheezy or mean you have to stop listening to it. if you loved it so much it wouldn't get "overplayed" cause there is no such thing as "overplayed" as far as good tunes are concerned. u people care too much, its just music dammit. |
