I said "indifferent" because i can't dislike a dj just because i don't like a music s/he spins. Why many of you confuse those two things. It reagards to your posts, Vtech. |
It's called constructive criticism.....and this is a forum where it's free to speak ones mind. So if you can't handle it then what are you doing here? Im sorry if you don't like it but Ive been in this scene much longer than you have. Maybe if you were into this music back then you would understand where some of us are coming from. It never used to be like this....there is no reason what so ever that a gig should have to be cancelled because they "don't have enough time to set it up." That is just bad business and poor planning. My point is....back in the day, it didn't take weeks, even days to set up for a frigging edm set. The DJ came to the club, played his set, and that was that. This whole concert bull is totally pathetic. Yeah TIC in Amsterdam was cool and all but when I really sit back and think about it.....Tiesto's set that night wasn't that great at all.....everything else that went on that night was.....but that doesn't exactly make it special. Special would be Tiesto bangging it out at the old Glow years ago or totally blowing up Space in Miami to an awesome crowd of people that were there for the music. Your always defending Tiesto like it's your job and to be honest with you it's getting old.....you have only been in this scene for what two years??? You get comped to like every show, your in the booth every night, you travel here you travel there, you friends with most of these DJ because you are a hot blonde groupie who has no real intelligence about this scene or how it all started. Is there anything wrong with that?.....No, of course not. But don't become all defensive when topics like this come up. I never once bashed Tiesto as a person or a DJ. You sit there and call me a "hater" hunny I used to be the biggest Tiesto fan you can amagine...ive seen him more times than you have, can pretty much name every friggin track and remix he has ever done....traveled across the world to see him....I am by far not a "hater." Do I think he has gone overboard....yes totally....But I still respect him as an artist. Oakenfold part 2;) |

speaking of tiesto in concert dvd, track selection overall is aight, he played some nice hits. but mixing isnt at its best at all. but does it look good? does the vibe look right? absolutely! that means it was a crazy night.
when u go to concert, u have to expect more than just a dj booth, ur simple lights and regular sound system. thats why u paying extra.
someone listed the money u spend for a concert comparing to a local dj. yea everything u listed is right, but concert is once in a while thing. dont u like change? dont u like to be in a bigger crowd, if not then ok. but bigger crowd, more lights mean more energy.
as of vtec criticizing about concert. its certainly not dumb to do something like this for edm, if sooo many ppl are enjoying it, it means nothings wrong with it.
plus wut do u know about the history of clubbing, edm music, dj and all that? if u really did, then u would understand the change but not accepted it. djs and clubbing evolves, would u say clubbing 10 years ago was just like clubbing today? this isnt really the first edm concert to be exact. |

| Why am I devlishly happy to hear this? :gsmile: Note to Tijs and company - book a few dates for early 2006 leading up to the WMC that includes Washington DC and a show at either the Continental Airlines arena or MSG. |

What do I know? I know that you're a moron...that's for sure. No music and clubbing evolves.....is this a club event?.....no it's not....it's a friggin clown show and you're just another muppet in the crowd. Whoever said anything about this being the first concert anyways....sure wasn't me because I was there....when it was planned out proper and Tijs had the whole month to practice his magical fairy acts. happens and sometimes DJs need to cancel gigs for this reason or that......but when you plan something this huge and cancel it because you finally realized you can't set up for it in time....that's just pathetic. Think about how many people planned this trip out and bought plane tickets and now have to pay out the ass to get their non refundable flights changed. Ask any DJ how they feel about these huge massives and I bet you will hear the same answer time after time.....this music belongs in the club.....not some huge ass stadium filled with 50,000 people. But they obviously do it for the money these days.....and that's what makes it not as special. |

Brian, you need to get yourself a life and stop living in the past. No, i will never experience something that you have been lucky to. No i can't turn the time back and see what Tiesto, Armin, Sasha and others were 3-5-10 years ago. I can't. But i'm tired of listening to moaning about "how good they were back then".
I live right now and believe me - i don't live on this forum as many of you do. I don't check TA every morning before going to the office. I have my own life, i travel almost every weekend and most of my trips have nothing to do with music - i do it because i love it.
I'm in a dj booth just because i'm blond? C'mon, You are not that silly to really believe in that. You don't invite just a random groupie to visit your house or meet with your friends or family.
I'm not proud that i know a lot of DJs but i'm def proud that some of them are talented, smart and real people and I was granted to call them my friends, as well as other of my friends who are not Djs.
I'm not protecting Tijs, i don't really care what people think about him. I'm just surprised to see so much anger especially from persons who don't know shiet about him and who have never even talked to him. I don't understand how you can hate somebody you don't know?! It regards to any Dj. If it's a constructive criticism it should be about his music (productions, remixing, CDs, gigs ect) but not about his personal (including financial) issues.
and... i don't want to start a flaming post. I was really upset myself about this cxllation not only because of my personal reasons but because it was the closest venue to NYC and i knew that i could assist some of NYTA members in getting free access to TIC. For you, Brian, it might not be that important because, i bet, you weren't going there anyway, but for some of them - it is. It could be thier only chance to see something that you have been lucky to see last year.
Peace. |

the reason why i assume tiestos concert was cancelled in DC because they really thought they didnt have enough time in their hands.
comparing the TIC in LA and the one in geraldom, the one in geraldom was much better than the LA. more huge screens, more lights, more fireworks. maybe they were suppose to do that to the concert in LA and realized it wasnt as easy as they thought. so the reason they cancelled the concert is cz they didnt want to do a half ass job. itll be worth the wait to see something bigger and better IMO, because thats a concert.
vtec, it was sooo much better back in the days huh? well explain me this. back in the day djs that were called 'modern djs' played for as big crowds as 10,000 and more. they played outdoors and that sure wouldve been called concert. now the out of ordinary stuff in a edm concert is the extra lights, dj booth, fireworks while back then it was mindblowing sound systems with lots of strong speakers.
so this concert thing is nothing new at all, its as old as clubs. |

Ok first off you need to stop accusing me of "hating"...please tell me where in any of my posts did I once say I hated anybody??? It's obvious that you can't handle the fact that people on these boards talk negatively about your fav DJs....maybe you don't clearly see where I am coming from....im not sure. We are talking about DJ Tiesto the DJ not Tijs Verwest your friend. Stop confusing the two already....nobody is attacking him as a person.....but yes sometimes I do attack him as a performer because I have every right two. Yeah it's ok that you were not around to see how it once was but since you wernt your only defense is "stop living your life in the past." Bull . I don't live my life in the past.....but what I do realize is that DJ Tiesto has totally gone down hill over the years....something that you don't realize because you haven't been around that long. I have every right to voice my opinion because I used to be a huge fan, I used to spend loads of money to see him, I used to take vacation off from work to travel to see him...and if he isn't worth all of that to me anymore than I have a ing right to bitch about it whether you like it or not. Did it ever occur to you that alot of these people on NYTA are close friends and like to have good constructive criticism about music??? I have a ing life and part of my life is music and my friends on TA so why does it bother you so much that not everybody on here sees eye to eye.....who knows but I can tell you one thing......to you, most of us are just clubbers that you see out here and there......for me alot of them are my close friends. Im sorry to tell you but name dropping in every post you make is not going to gain yourself any bit of respect on these boards......neither is posting naked pictures of yourself in Vegas. |
