I know this is the most common question we ask people around us everyday...
but sometimes when I am having the worst day and someone asks me that...after I say "good thanks" when I am really not good at all....
it almost makes me wanna go back and say, "umm wait no...i am NOT GOOD damn it!!!"

but who ing does that...we just lie and say "good thanks" and walk away. (well I know I do anyway)
One day I just want to catch someone off guard when they ask me and say, "I am doing crappy...I wanna kill someone..I am so pissed off...life sucks......

Sorry I just had to post this as I was thinking of this yesturday at work after my boss asked me, "How are you?"

I would be happy if somebody said that. I can tell when somebody is having a bad day, and they still say they are ok. I would like somebody to express what is actually going on.
I would be willing to listen. |

Well...I think most people ask how are you just to be nice, they don't genuinely care about how you are REALLY...chances are if you are feeling most people won't want to sit there and listen to your problems ;)
But with that said i'm in pain today but feeling good :clown: |

the question has totally lost all meaning cause its asked so much. and truthfully, i really dont give a how anyone at work is doing today, nor do i feel like answering the same ing question a million frickin times. its anger inducing
the typical convo at work is: "hi how are you" "good you?" "good"

but then again, what else are people to talk about with their colleagues (their financial troubles? their marriage going down the ter? the drugs they did last weekend? how much their life sucks? no thanks) .. cause most of them are just that, people u work with.. and they only matter 9-5.
i'd take 'awkward silence' over a 'how are you' any day of the week. |

No, what really gets me is when people ask "how are you?" when they dont really give a rats ass how you are. It's just a formality/tradition .. fake concern.
I'm sitting at work, people walk by my work station and ask how i am. Do they really care how I am? Really? No they don't. Like .. piss off, stop wasting my time with the small talk! .. That's why most of the time I don't ask either unless I can see they might really not be "fine". I prefer a "what are you up to" or "what's up". Unless you are a close friend or family member, I know you really don't care so save the how are you!!! lol..

As fake as the answer is, the questions is faker (yes I made up a word)....my boss routinely asks me this every morning when I walk in the door without even looking up from his desk.
One day I would love to tell him the truth
"I hate my job, I hate you and I can't wait to be out of this hell hole!!"
Wonder what he would say to that? |
