djconfessions, you seem to be yearning for a "right" answer.. it seems to me that you want someone to say, "yeah im the same way as you and i feel fine about God and getting into Heaven" and all that.
I think you seem to be pretty headstrong and morally inclined to base and make your own judgements about your religion. Each person has their own morals and are subject to their own codes of conduct. Perhaps let that be your guide and strive for a balance. |

Most people are pretty firm when it comes to if they believe in god, but I don't.
God is just some word to me. If I met a cool girl who was really religous, I'd simply mimic her if I wanted to be with her. Same thing with an atheist girl. I don't feel guilt either way when I lie to people about believing/not believing. It's strange really.
It's not just about lying, it's completely hiding the fact that I do not care about the issue at hand, either way and I'm just taking the side a feel like taking at the time. And I can do this with great enthusiasm. I seem to be doing this for everything, and I seem to enjoy it sometimes. Normally, this would make someone feel bad, but the only thing that worries me is getting found out.
Only thing I've strongly believed in my life is the limitless potential of humanity to do good or bad (I don't know why, I just like the thought of this).
Is there a word for people like me? I constantly feel empty, yet I ENJOY feeling empty. That might be the only feeling I have nowadays... |

Did you go to religious school or public school?

just 'public' school, but the RE teachers were usually very devout christians who hated us, especially 'catch the bible' games which used to have her ting herself |

I think this phrase is powerful and really sums up a part of Christianity. If you are truly sorry, God will forgive.
People who say they don't believe but are angry at the same time at this 'God' person. I think alot of this boils down to a typical school education, and a faith and theology that is so basic as soon as it comes to anything difficult, it falls flat on its face, hence the "God is x,y and z" remarks. |
