In the last 3 seconds something is changed in the sound. Im sure you'll hear it. Im trying to figure out what was done here.

My theorys are:

Another OSC is added.

The release is turned up.

They layer another sound with it.

What do you guys think?
Thois
it just gets detuned at the end (multiple oscs with detunation)
Storyteller
yup probably just a too big detune which I don't like:rolleyes:
mysticalninja
theres no way its just being detuned at the end. anyone know whats really going on at the end of that sample?
Storyteller
bad luck then kid, because it is... unison/detune...
and otherwise it *could* be a different preset. who knows.
mysticalninja
if its 'just a big detune' lets hear you come up with something even close too that effect using one of the vanguard factory presets. or any other vsti. the 'Ayla Lead' preset in VG would be a good place to start, as it sounds like the begining of that sample. Lets hear it, since its so simple it shouldnt take you too long right? I mean after all, its just a too big unison/detune right?
dannib
It starts off with a simple pulse wave lead in which an lfo is modulating the pitch. At the end of the sample another waveform, either saw or pulse is being faded in and detuned at the same time. Maybe unison is used as well. It should be really simple to recreate.

As was my first theory. But what do you mean when you say its being faded in and detuned at the same time? Isn't the new waveform already detuned as it fades in? Or are you saying the ammount of semitones its being detuned at is changing as it fades in? I think thats unlikley.

You also say unison may be used as well. If im not mistaken, synths either come with the ability too detune individual OSC's or come with a unison mode, but always either or, not both. Ive never seen a vsti with 'unison' so I dont know, I just thought I heard that somewhere.

I would personally do this with an external effect rather than vanguard :)
mysticalninja
Uhh.. Mind telling me what plugin/hardware you would use too detune a vsti or add unison? Cause I think your full of isht..

MDA detune, too bad it doesn't automate very well in my sequencer.
If you take the ayla lead preset on vanguard, I suggest you to use MDA detune to get it quite detuned. also automate all 3 detune knobs of vanguards LFO's quite a notch up and try to make the ayla leads attack more aggressive and youre there.

I think that's some lfo working on something, can't really figure out what. filter maybe...

Well, if I remember correctly from back in the day the virus b has both unison and detune... So the C probably does too :)
