I wouldn't even start that debate with me - That's one you'd have no chance of winning ;)

That's just the act she puts up around everyone else, when we're alone, she's rules with an Iron Fist - Think Stalin, but cuter.

luckily Rob and i agree on almost everything.

the emo vs hippie music is one debate i'd never get into though... i have no logical reason why emo music is good, besides the fact that i'm a silly emo chick, and i just like how they program the music in episodes of The OC.

but i did go to a concert where moe opened up for Dashboard Confessional! BAM! emo and hippie forces combined!
washout
just got out of bed.
watched o.c. from lasted nite.
had to make sure what i saw was correct.
marissa.
dead.
kthxbye.

There are plenty of "emo" musicians that are talented.

Besides, what emo songs were we talking about, or were you just taking a cheap shot at your gf's music tastes...?

I'm not going to get into a semantics debate with you regarding a genre of music that I admittedly no little to nothing about. What I do know is that the majority of pop indie/emo bands out there that are prominently featured on shows like the OC and whatever else happens to be popular with the teen angst crowd at the moment do, in fact, lack considerable talent, especially when compared to an area of music so broadly generalized as "hippie" music, where a significant amount of prominent musicians are classically trained and do display significant musical talent.

Quite simply put, if you feel that you can compare the talents of musicians like Bela Fleck, Trey Anastasio, Jerry garcia, Michael Kang, Victor Wooten, or any number of other "hippie" musicians to the likes of Imogen Heap or Dashboard confessional, then I'm sorry, but you haven't a clue what talent, with regard to music, is.

Well if you knew your , you would know that song you said you hate is done by the song of Tim Buckly, a huge "hippie" artist, who did such songs as Song of the Siren (you know the one, that everyone remixes) and other well know tracks, and that song that Jeff Buckly did is a cover and addition of a Leonard Cohen track, who is far from a pop/indie artist. :p

Did I mention Tim Buckley even once? Not only that, did I ever call him emo?

The answer is a clear no. Just because I don't like a track doesn't mean I instantly label it is something it isn't.

PS: Tim Buckley isn't a REAL hippie artist either... :p

You don't have a ing clue.

I have no desire to get into a pissing match with you Nou - Especially regarding how "genuine" my love for whatever music I enjoy is.

Feel free to take pot shots at me all day, because at the end of the day, you don't really know me, and more than that, I know you just like to stir .

So nice try, but you lose, yet again.

there are a ton of talented musicians in the hippie/jam band genre.

there are also plenty of talented musicians in the emo/indie genre.

imo, there are talented artists in every genre of music. it just sucks that the majority of indie/emo music featured on TV is bland and generic, but produced in such a way that it appeals to a specific audience... hippie/jam bands aren't as commercial so i don't think they suffer from exposure like that.

Finally! I knew someone had to be seeing what it was I was saying this whole time:

Sorry Nou, but I'd say that somewhere in the neighborhood of 95% of the music on the show is just not at all for me.
