Maybe they forgot to complain last time. :conf:

Pretty good night. Cattaneo was tearing up the guv with some sexy tunes, no complaints from him really. How can someone fall asleep to house? It's non-stop beat pumping action lol. Track selection could of been a bit better...but meh I was pleased. Oakey pretty much surprised me as well. His track selection was SUPERB!! His mixing.....was down right horrid....which doesn't come as a surprise. But he played the one song I wanted to hear last night....Southern Sun!!!!! That really made my night. Finally got to meet [NFC]Wave and DJ Ampz :) And of course seeing a lot of the regular TOTAS I usually spot :P

Wow.

A little bit of everything last night...

MO: Never disappoints; at the end of the night he was getting into some funky, eletro-house and it was friggin' awesome! :toocool:

Hernan: Not what I was expecting since the last time I saw him he was more 'Latino' flavour shall we say so I was a little dissappointed he didn't take that route. He did have an good set; kept me dancing so can't complain :p. Technically he was heads over Oakenfold (which apparently wasn't hard).

Oakenfold: Holy wowsers! :eyespop:
He transformed the night into an old skool anthem night and every song was a flashback. I couldn't believe my ears when he started laying down Southern Sun and Seven Cities! I kept asking everybody if he forgot this CDs/Albums on the plane or something... :p
My mind loved it; legs did not.

Shoutouts to all the TAs; was great to see you all again (too many to remember) but special shoutouts to El Kay Dee, Tordan (thanks for the ride buddy), Spyder, Trickdadee (and +1 :p), DJ Ampz, Endlesswave, Irishaddict, and TranceGrooves (sorry if I missed someone)...

Now at least two days of my feet not liking me... :sadgreen:

That old school styled set by Oakie was en awesome. Didn't expect to hear Southern Sun, but it was tops that he dropped it, along with all the other classics.

So many songs I knew, but can't ID anymore because I just haven't listened to them in ages. Although personally I didn't find his mixing that . I don't really sit there and try and distinguish good from bad mixing though, and as long as there aren't any train wrecks (which I personally didn't notice), I reckon that it'll do the job. Of course having super tight mixing never hurt, but as long as it's not a wreck, it'll keep me satisfied.

Meanwhile, couldn't find a single TA last night. Although admittedly I can only recognise like 5 faces :P
In the end I gave up trying to dance downstairs and just stayed up in drink watching the crowd and dancing up there. So much more room.

Oh, and blagging free entry was awesome to :P

What a weekend that wasy for SURE! To start things off to get a sense of how amazing things were, go back and read my review on M.I.K.E. at Viva (HERE ).

Things started off with Ampz calling me sounding like he was inches away from the toilet as he was speaking. Apparently the 21st birthday only comes once ;) Congrats again buddy ;) We setup where the interview was to take place (after trying to figure out what flipping hotel Oakie was at, haha). Mags and I booked it across from the Eaton Center and walked into the hotel... as a wedding was going on :toothless Not quite the proper attire in regular civilian clothes... but why did I care? I was about to assist in interviewing Paul Oakenfold!

Barry arrived and up we went to his room. After a quick chat with the guys from BPM TV in we went ;) Chilling out relaxing on the couch, was the man himself, the legend: Paul Oakenfold. The interview was interesting to say the least. Seems some TA's thought it would be funny to sabatoge some of the questions. Way to go guys. Great to see everyone is excited and interested in ruining the fun for everyone else. Stand up job. :whip: Don't worry, we'll explain all that later.

Other than that, he was awesome. Signed a shirt wishing my friend a happy birthday and myself the flyer. He even let me snap a few pics during the interview, which I was surprised with as he's apparently known for not wanting to take any pics. All in all, stand up guy. Still shocked I got to meet one of my hero's in the industry.

Back for some pizza and to get ready and we were down to the club by just under midnight. We went in and things were rammed already. I said it the night before at Viva to people, "Enjoy the space we have now because tommorow will be insane". Oh how I was right. We walked in and it was a sauna. Insane. Mark was banging out the tunes but we headed streaight to the patio. Metup with Shaya and a bunch of other TA's and just chilled for a bit (the legs still weren't working right from the night before with M.I.K.E.) so we had to work our way into it ;)

Back inside we went after the patio became a crowded mess. The swealtering heat that was the Guv was pretty intense. It was like hitting a brick wall. Ampz myself and his friend went down to the front for the apparent TA meetup. Hernan started kicking it off when we noticed some TA's up on the stage. Within half an our we were surrounded by TA's who were owning that stage. Hernan kept looking over at us, it was awesome. I personally wasn't digging his set much... too much build not enough results in my opinion. But I of course have a bias opinion as I was there for Oakie ;)

Speaking of which, I saw him sitting in behind Hernan getting things ready. One thing I thought was a touch odd was neither Hernan or Paul were introduced to the crowd. They just came on.

And Oakie did come on. A little different than back in November of course ;) Just came on with a couple regular tracks, no bombs or anything right away. But in pure Oakie fashion he picked things up quite nicely. He was having a great time up there watching the CO2 Cannon blast the crowd to pieces and it was great to see him jumping around and interacting with the people on the stage or in the 'VIP' area. The visuals were great (props to Theo as per usual) and the crowd was going wild. So wild that the place heated to nearly unbearable levels. It was so disgusing in there not to mention how packed it was. As Laura posted earlier: overcrowding a club does not mean a better club. My clothes were beginning to feel twice as heavy, but who cares: it was awesome.

Down into front and center we went just in time for some serious tracks to be dropped: Traffic hit me like a freaking WALL. It was great to see him play that again like back in November. I must say, the CO2 cannon from down in the actual 'pit' was intense... my first time experiencing it (Yes that's right folks, I missed A&B :().

He finished up with Rank 1 - Top Gear to my absolute delight. I think he did a great job. Some of you TA's are just over-critical asshats who just bash any of the great DJ's. Tiesto, Armin, PvD, Oakie..etc... over-critical and just looking for mistakes. What ever happened to enjoying the music. He had 2 mixes that came in SLIGHTLY off for goodness sakes. Sometimes you people need to give the DJ's who make you dance for hours a break and just have fun.

Mark came on but I was toast. After Viva and Guv, I had nothing left. I stayed for a few songs: Ridgewalkers - Find was of course a highlight, but I really couldn't enjoy it as much as I would have liked to.

Thank you to ALL the TA's who made this night another great one. The party would be nothing without all of you. Met so many, remember zero names ;) Such is life but what can you do.

Here are some pics, enjoy the rest with the link at the bottom.
