Well, I just finished watching that video, It was really cool, But there seems to be something wrong with the video right at the end, With just a couple of seconds left before the end, The video freezes, I think who ever that encoded the video, Shouldve encoded it in another format rather then mpeg-4, There are many issues with MPEG-4 videos these days, If the person who made the video is reading this, Tried encoding video to Divx next time. |
Oh geeze, so the last few seconds messed up...don't think it's a big deal... |

I'll read the rest of the posts later, because I just got home and only have time to write my review of the entire trip before I catch up on homework and head to bed...
Friday
We were originally supposed to leave at 9, but that was pushed back to two because the car was in the shop. Unfortunately, when Adam went to get it, they had started working on it just as he was walking in. We ended up taking his van and finally leaving at 4:30. We arrived in Oakland at 4 the next morning.
Saturday
Meet
Nou and DJFreaq wanted to sleep in, but I wanted to meet with my friend and the TAs, so I headed out early. Got to the meet and there was only one person there, I forget his name but he was in the white TA shirt and I think was from back east; the guy who lurks. :p My friend was there, too; he's going to college in San Fran, so I spent most of the meet chatting with him.
I remember Photo Bot, Sweetcandy Girl, Orbital32, Electrophile, and... that's it, as far as names go. +20 to the guy who wore my Hooj shirt; bastard. :p
The Parade
... Was mind-blowing. We watched the floats go by, as transients undressed right in front of us. It took forever for Spundae to wander up to the start, so we walked down and walked along with it. Nou stopped in a couple stores, once to get a marker to write on his head and shirt, and once for a belt.
The view down the street was amazing; all of those people just... I dunno, I can't really put it into words. After we made it to the Civic Center we took a rest, had some food, met Psiweaver and a couple of other TAs, then wandered over to A&B; I ended up heading over to Burridge. What pisses me off is that I think I was next to Bas for a while and didn't realize it until I saw him walk away to talk on his cell.
After Burridge we took the Bart back to the hotel to rest for the Afterparty.
I headed back before Nou and DJFreaq again, because I wanted to catch Evil Nine and Cox. I got to the Spundae float right before Ferry got on. ING INSANE SET. Wow. I was a little disappointed though with the U2 remix; nice break, but it lasted too long and didn't carry on when the beat kicked in. Other than that he tore the Spundae float a new one. I would've loved to have seen Cox on the float.
I think I saw DaveT on the float; black shirt, right behind Ferry. :)
Afterparty
Bittersweet is how I can describe it. I missed Evil Nine's set, because I didn't get in until 10:30. I asked an employee which line I should stand in if I was *physically* holding tickets, and it turns out that he pointed me to the will-call line; 45 minutes wasted.
After I got in, I hurried and caught the last 30 minutes of Cox's set. Jesus ing Christ did he rock the place. It definitely set the stage for his show up here on Thursday.
Shortly afterwards I get a call from Nou; the line had double-backed around the building, and it didn't look like they would get in until 1am. On top of that, the lot they parked at closed at 3:30. They didn't think it was worth it, and as the only person left that night that I wanted to see was Ferry, I figured it wouldn't be too bad of a deal if I left early.
We got back to the hotel, ordered pizza, etc.
Oh, I saw Boomer when I was standing in the Will Call line. He walked by fast, and I didn't hollar because I figured it would've been odd screaming, "DISCO BOOMEEEEERRRRRR!!!!"
Sunday
We spent half of the day trying to find our way around the city with the most ed-up streets in the history of, well... tily-designed-streets. Everywhere we wanted to turn, we couldn't; we had to go multiple blocks out of our way before we could turn.
We checked out Japan Center, then headed over to the Golden Gate Bridge and got a load of awesome pictures.
Monday
Headed back north at 4am with just two hours of sleep. Fun.
I'm definitely going back next year. I kinda regret not checking out the entire 18 hours, but it was our first time so -ups are to be expected. Hopefully next year we can take a train down a day early and actually stay in San Fran.
I think there was something about the parade that just hit me. When I came back at 6:45, I was walking towards city hall. It was lit-up real nicely. I dunno... It sounds kinda cheesy but standing there, looking at it, and hearing music from all of the floats just felt ing amazing.
I'll have all of my photos uploaded tomorrow. :)
Edit: Mother ******, I see Ferry dropped Punk. Even though it's over-played and sorta (keyword, so don't hate on me :p) I've always wanted to be in a crowd when he dropped it. . |

It has nothing to do with when I encoded it. Another application that I didn't know I had open interfered while importing the video, and had I known it earlier I would've redid it. Other than that, it only happens a brief period towards the end. |
