I have to agree with you on this one, some comments are quite sick

it's funny how some of you call these girls selfish and bastards, yet I bet you have no idea what they've been through, I wonder if anyone who said that knows what its like being constantly made fun of and put down? One thing for sure it takes a strong one to pull through something like that.

I feel sympathy for the choices they made it's sad they couldn't see, or have anyone else show them a different way out

LOL!!!! I'd rather look at it as, "we agree to disagree!" :p ;)

Seriously, though...it's a blessing (from God or whoever) that you're alive...and as long as you have will power (which every human always has) you can change your situation in life...run away from your problems...maybe die trying (like swim across the bloody ocean and drown trying) but it's way too ing lazy to just jump off a building. No respect whatsoever.

I read an article once about the civil war in Rwanda or Nigeria or something...in it, a woman was gang raped over and over again by the militia...it was the most grizzly, gruesome, graphic and DESPICABLE thing I've ever read, and it was all real...she described the smell of her body and the colors of the liquid all over her (blood and semen and excrement)...it was just plain ing SICK.

But she lived through it all in the hope that one day she may be reunited with her children. She IS reunited with them and is taking care of them today in Canada.

The situation that woman was in would be the one place I may think, okay, MAYBE she could end her life to end that suffering. But she didn't, and proved to me again that there is just no excuse.

Seriously though not everyone is religious or spiritual or into god whoever, you have to consider that, and most definately everyone has different beleifs, just because someone take a way which you in your own opinion find unacceptable, doesn't neccessarily mean you can show disrespect, taking in mind they were 14 year old girls. Mental abuse can be very harmfull and self degrading, even more painfull then physical pain, and unfortunately not everyone is strong to strive through it.

Unless you were in their shoes and known what they've been through, cut the roll eyes please

Please. There's a load more people leading waaaay harder lives than two 14 year old girls living in a middle-class suburban French family. And they somehow make it out alive. A miracle!

Second, everybody gets made fun of, it's part of life, something you have to learn to deal with.

Third, I know some goths, and they don't get made fun of, because even though they're clearly goth, they don't go extreme with it. The two probably dressed that way because they wanted to get made fun of as a way to justify the 'hard' life they're living. And don't even try to shove that self-expression argument in here - you can self express yourself without going overboard.

I once was a victim of deep depression and nearly commited suicide myself. As a person who lived it first hand, I can say that when things seem to be bad enough, nothing matters anymore, not even your own life.

I truly think that a person with depression is no longer thinking rationally, and therefore the reasoning "temporary insanity" is very feasible. "Depression needs to be recognized as a devastating illness," Dr. Manji explains. "It can occur with other diseases, but it is a very real medical condition in its own right."

When clinical depression sets in, your hormones and seratonin levels are affected. These combined together can cause for a dangerous mix, and can reflect in the thoughts of the individual.

Anyone who has commited suicide, or has thought about it, I give my deepest sympathies. They needed help; more than just a few caring words and a "middle-class suburban" up-bringing.

"Mental abuse can be very harmfull and self degrading, even more painfull then physical pain, and unfortunately not everyone is strong to strive through it."

Cudos, very well said.

I suggest that before you make a judgement on something as serious as this, you learn a little about the causing factors. Perhaps talking to someone who has almost commited suicide, or has thought about it to understand the personal point of view. Google it, there are hundreds of thousands of websites on this topic.

Just because you don't think suicide is right for you now, doesn't necessarily mean that under the influence of a physical condition, you wouldn't consider it. I don't think any rational thinking person wants to throw away their lives, but with some obscure thinking patterns and influences accompanied by a debilitating illness, it becomes an option just to escape.

so it sounds like you knew these girls, would you like to back their reason and condition with actual facts, assumptions are useless

Just because you ing can make it out doesn't mean you NEED to try if you don't want to. Jesus, maybe making it out in the end isn't worth the immediate torture to them at that point in time. So, therefore, at that point in time, they decided to make a decision that solved their current problem. They're dead, they're not regretting it.

We have no place to say that just because one can make it out alive and well, that they should have to! If i dont wanna try, dammit, i dont wanna try. "MY" decision to make. I'm offend by those that take this "high road" opinion of their situation and look down on them. Jesus, you're way of viewing the situation isn't an absolute truth. Just because YOU wouldn't do that and would try to stick it out, doesn't mean that that's the ONLY thing one should do, or that giving up is wrong. Giving up or trying to try are two possible decisions one could make and NEITHER is wrong. They are just different decisions. Feel bad if you want, but don't assume the frame of mind they are stupid and wrong for doing what they did.

Oh please:rolleyes: They did to justify their hard life?? Hardly likely - I dont think anyone is free to take such a liberty and suggest that unless they knew them and their situation well. To simply assume that as the likely reasoning behind their manner or dress and association is just a HUGE presumption you are making - very implausible.

The guys must have been hoping to get laid after the girls went into the bedroom, promising a surprise. Instead, they killed themselves. Must be quite a blow to their self-esteem :D

Agreed.

I am disgusted by the amount of ignorance, stupidity and complete disregard for human life in this thread.

It's all so easy to talk and point fingers, especially AFTER the event in question has happened.

I'd like to see what all of you internet heroes and keyboard warriors would have said if this happened to your boy/girlfriend, or a close family member.

I've experienced deep depression, and it feels like you're in a bottomless pit.

It feels like you can't escape, your emotions fill your thoughts, and logic and reason are nowhere to be found.

You can't exactly compare this to people in Rwanda, or people in other countries living a tough life.

People in third world countries mostly go through a lot of physical torture and abuse. They also lead simple lives, and it is because of this simplicity that they have time to think, time to enjoy life. Even under the hardships they face, many look at life optimistically.

Many of you on this forum, judging by your responses, have NO IDEA the psychological and mental pressure that is placed on people who live a modern life in the city or suburbs. In some ways, it is like a slow, gradual form of torture that lasts the majority of your life.

I look at the daily life I'm living, and I hate it. I am stuck to the same fcuking routines every single day. Everything is on a deadline, on a tight schedule, I rarely have room to just STOP and to think freely, to actually LIVE. People living a modern life seem to take living itself for granted. Now of course, for most of them, it is not their fault, they are a product of society, but for some, it is. For some, it is because they give in to their instinctive pleasures, and their animalistic urges which leads their lives to be like this.

I am guessing these girls were so distressed, they practically could've been considered insane. But everyone around them was too busy and preoccupied with their own materialistic daily lives, to have done anything to help these girls. Most of you in this forum probably fall into this category as well, given your narrow minded responses.
Moral Hazard
To the folks talking about the value of human life....... please tell me why the lives of these two girls are so valuable to you. Seriously, who are you to judge whether or not their lives had enough value to compel these girls to carry on with them despite their (clear) desire to end them? They are the ones living their lives, they are in fact THEIR LIVES, not your lives, not my lives, not their families lives. The liver owns the life that they live.... if they wish to end it then it is their call.

Personally, I wish more people had the courage to kill themselves. We really need to thin the herd in order to strenghthen the future of all man. To quote Nietzsche.... "I love those that seek to overcome themselves and by doing so go under because they hasten the arrival of the superman." (thus spoke zarathustra part II)
