People are giving it high scores for nostalgic reasons. There no musical quality to speak of. Imagine if the album was released today. |

Well, yes it would sound dated as it was made in 1992. But um, yeah, I'd be willing to believe that it's somewhat groundbreaking when 333 people are telling me that it's groundbreaking and I already tend to agree rather than one person complaining about it. |

| Oh please, blaming equipment for music that hasn't aged well? Experience is a fullblown oldschool rave record. As such it does the job rather brilliantly. However, while helium rap samples over speeded up amen breaks, obligatory piano breaks and all the other cliches may have amounted to one of the biggest rave manifestos back in '92, Experience sounds painfully irrelevant in 2005 if you look away from the reminiscing factor. |

ive always enjoyed your posts, u portray your point not in a condescending way, but in a way which gets the point across firmly, and i usually tend to agree with most of your statement.

What I'm saying is that the sounds made out of the equipment back then was very unique, and I for one loved it. If I ever need to put something good old skool on, the Experience album is in my choices as it's a very good collection. If you're looking for it to be the same today or even more, then of course it won't (Aimed at the thread starter) but it was good in it's time, and in a lot of peoples opinions has aged well, if it hasn't in yours then boohoo, that's life. It's like comparing a car from 15 years ago with one from now, of course the newer looks will be picked (unless you're into the whole retro look) so stop complaining, deal with the fact you don't like it, and don't think you're any better than us who do like it. |

Nostalgia does not = musical merit. Do people buy old cars because they think the cars have great specs? No, they do it cos it reminds them of back in the day, just like this album does when popping it on in 2005. I'm sure Experience provides a great trip back to the rave days and holds many fond memories for those who were there. Sadly, this does nothing to improve on the music's creative merit. |

it's old enough that it's got to the point where it shouldn't have to do anything other than provide an insight into those years, it's produced well, it was successful enough, it shouldn't have to prove itself by going up against other newer music. |

And why on earth should it not be evaluated like any album of its ilk, when there are plenty of albums just as old that stand the test of time quite excellently? |
