Why aren't teams or the RAYS trying to shop Carl Crawford???

Cause of his contract???? It's not that big... I'd love to see Crawford in a big market...

I LOVE Carl Crawford, one of my fav players outside of the Yankees. Here's a snippet from the Yankees website about that very question that I think answers it quite well:

What are the chances that the Yankees could make a trade for Carl Crawford?
-- James W., Yonkers, N.Y.

I get this question a lot, and I never understand where it comes from. Yes, the Devil Rays have a number of players in the outfield, including Crawford, Rocco Baldelli, Joey Gathright, Aubrey Huff, Jonny Gomes and Damon Hollins. But they also have position flexibility with some of these players, such as Huff's ability to play the corner infield spots, Hollins' play at third base and Gomes in the DH spot.

If Tampa Bay was going to deal any of these players, Huff would likely be the first to go, as he will be a free agent next year. Crawford signed a four-year, $15.25 million deal with the Rays last spring which will keep him in Tampa Bay through 2008.

Crawford, who is just 24, is set to earn $2.5 million in 2006, $4 million in 2007 and $5.25 million in 2008. A pretty good bargain for a player that has averaged more than 100 runs scored, 13 homers, 66 RBIs, 52 stolen bases and an average just under .300 in the past two seasons.

konerko resigns with the white sox.

smart move by him.

Carl Crawford is agreat player who i don't htink gets enough press due to playing in tampa and Baldelli is another speedster with a great glove who can cause havoc on the basepath

I'm happy to see that, I like key guys giving the home discount. But makes sense, I wanted want to go to the Orioles either. Now LA? Well... if I was a famous rich ballplayer I'd probably go there. More chicks and hot weather.

$60M is a home-town discount? Yeesh.

i also like julio lugo and jorge cantu .. a lineup of cantu, lugo, crawford, huff, and baldelli for hitting is pretty decent .. i also like johnny gomes ..

with pitching, i liked how kazmir progessed through the year, and the development of baez as a closer .. if these players are intact for another 3 to 4 years, look out for tampa .. especially with new york and boston's players starting to age , and the youth of tampa maturing .

5 million at least, that's all. Yeah I couldn't live with 5 million...

Konerko is a mediocre ball player... I'm glad he cashed in on his great play during the playoffs and WS... but he's being overpaid beyond belief!

My prediction for him next year is .256 avg and 35 HR's. No, that's not worth $12 million a year.

I think that's about dead on...

I just realized, they got Thome and Konerko now... hmmm...

Baez is a terrible closer. Terrible. He's Danny Kolb waiting to happen.

hmm castillo has been traded to the twins shoring up their infield and they are supposedly on the verge of signing frank thomas...real interesting moves
also read that the Mets are preparing to trade Kris Benson to the Orioles for Jorge Julio
