Saw the rumor about the nats trading Vidro & Ryan Church to the cubs for Kerry Wood...interesting trade, but i really don't think at this point Wood can last an entire season,is it his mechanics that keep landing him on d.l or just bad luck

Yanks just took Jesus Caveman, Johnny Damon, from the Red Sux. 4 years, $52 million. It's on ESPNews now. Yanks now have legitimate leadoff guy for the first time since Chuck "New Kids on" Knoblauch. Weakest arm in the game but so was Bernie for years and years. At least he can run down the ball and it really hurts the Sux in my opinion.

At first it was hard liking the possibility but I've changed my mind. Hard not to like:

Jesus
Jeter
A Fraud
Sheff
Matsui
Juiceambi

That's a lineup!!

And the Yanks signed Octavio Dotel today to load up the quality relievers instead of way overpaying for guys that eventually suck (Karsay, Quntrill, etc). Meaning Dotel is an incentive laden deal for only one year. If he blows up... at least there isn't 3 more years and $24 million like Karsay. Or like B.J. Ryan could have been. But those guys never wanted to be 8th innning guys anyway.

lol cant wait to hear the sox fans reaction to this

Who's running the Red Sox front office these days...a bunch of chimpanzees? Why they would EVER let this happen is beyond me.

But, as a fan of the eye roll inducing EVIL EMPIRE, I say Welcome to the Bronx, Mr. Johnny Damon. Thank you in advance for all the hits and stolen bases and catches you will make the next 4 years.

And kudos for knowing when to get off the burning and sinking ship that is the Boston Red Sox.

So does this mean Johnny will have to shave his beard and cut his hair? Old Steinnyburger doesn't like facial hair and long hair.

Ehhhh... I actually think this is a dumb signing by the Yankees. They scored a bajillion runs last year. Scoring runs isn't the problem. It's giving them up that hurts them. They won 95 games last year.

They should have went with a defensive OF. Anyone who can play the position above averagely would have been a much better fit. Then, I know they have a lot of money in that rotation already, but they should've checked to see what Millwood wanted.

I'm not saying Damon will hurt the Yankees, I just think there were better things they could've spent that money on. I used to be in the "Cashman is a great GM, but is limited to what he can do be Steinbrenner" camp. I definitely think differently now...

I just copied my post from the NYTA board... :thepirate

Lofton traded to the Dodgers. No loss for the Phillies, IMO. They've still got rookie Ryan Howard, plus Utley, Abreu and Jimmy Rollins.

Why do I feel that the Braves and Phillies are going to be the only real contenders for the NL East pennant next season?
Acid Circus
My god, looks like the Cardinals are trying to make the NL Central more competitive next year. Ponson, I can't see any sense in getting him, we have far better prospects than this criminal. And as for our outfield we have Jim Edmonds surrounded by bench players and all we do is aquire more bench players. We've lost a good 2nd base too, far to many gaps to fill at the moment.
Shamez214
It's all about the Brewers, baby. And the A's are going to win the AL West easily next year. As are the Indians in the Central.

Everyone is freaking out here... about losing Damon... but since I jumped off the Sox bandwagon a long time ago... I say... "who gives a ?"

They're going to suck either way, who cares, baseball is dead... let's go PATS!!!

Calling Damon a traitor is retarded. The Red Sox had every opportunity to get him back but didn't. It seems as if they didn't even try hard to sign him. So tough , blame your idiotic front office.
Shamez214
The same idiotic front office that traded Doug Mirabelli (a back-up catcher) for Mark Loretta?

I'm thinking they're gonna go get Coco Crisp now for CF. And they may see what Alex Gonzalez is asking for.

Coco Crisp
Mark Loretta
Ortiz
Manny
Varitek
Nixon
Lowell
first baseman?
Gonzalez

Looks pretty decent to me. Let's see what happens the rest of the off-season before calling them "idiotic" for letting Damon go somewhere else for 13M a year.

They also have Andy Marte... who I think is going to be a STUD.
