Im from Houston, Tx and when people ask me what kind of music im into, obviously Trance is mentioned. But along with that comes comments like "do you rave" "you do x?" "no one listens to techno" ect.
But although most of the EDM scene and people are huge party types who often take tabs,x,coke ect ect. I am not really one of them.
I do occasionally smoke weed and put on a good set just because something about being high and listening to a good set is the closest thing to perfection, but thats not the point.
My question is.. Do you go to the shows for the drugs or for the music?
Or do you feel that the drugs increase the state of mind? Just wondering, I try and ask some of my friends this question and they just say its for the music but I highly doubt being passed out at a show is going for the music.. |

| Alot of people that say its all about the music are bullting and are really there to get high. There are also plenty around who genuinely come for the music, I tend to think the people who come for the music are the ones who aren't wildly plastered and can use responsibly. |

I go for the show. You def. don't need drugs to have fun at those crazy shows. The music is so loud and everyone is dancing and theres crazy lights. Why do I need drugs to me up even more?
I kind of wish people would throw away the E and pay more respect to the music instead of tripping for themselves. |

| I'd do drugs for the sake of experimenting, and I love EDM. Never done them together though. It's just a stereotype. If all people who listen to edm go to raves and do drugs, then all people who listen to country are white trash and people who listen to rap are violent criminals. |

| I think the people who say they "go for the music", go for the music they hear when they're under the influence. Not all of course. |

it's a large misconception spread thanks to the proliferation of young kids taking drugs at raves along with the media continuing to report on them.
it annoys me everytime when someone asks me what music i like, and when i respond with "trance" they immediately follow-up with a question along the lines of "oh do you drop?"
despite what hadi ****** says :p one does not need drugs to enjoy trance or any other kind of EDM. |

| I go to enjoy the music, and substances enhance the experience. |

I think there are just as many people getting ed up at hip hop shows and rock concerts.
Not American pop music shows though. |

| when i first started listening to trance i didn't do many drugs then for about two years once i started to see the association with drugs and trance i began rolling often and i found it to make the music 10 times better but i no longer roll and trance is still the main part of my daily dose of music, i think that doing ecstasy a few times may have made me appreciate the music more but i dont need drugs to give me the feeling that trance gives me anymore |

If by drugs you mean Alcohol, then yes..
NO, if I wanted to get hammered I'd do it at home. It's for the music, and maybe the ladies.. and maybe a few drinks.. |

| Clubs and mind altering substances go hand in hand. People go to clubs to let loose and have fun. It's just a given and has nothing to do with trance. I know for sure that people that go to hip-hop clubs are on drugs as well. |
