To be fair, I did see a documentary a few years ago highlighting rampant corruption and racism amongst the NOPD. I don't get why they didn't stop to accost this guy before he pulled a knife on the officers, but it does say he jumped within a foot of one of those officers. I imagine he had intent to kill; it's unfortunate he was mentally disturbed and I wish there could have been some other option but those officers were in danger. I don't think it's outrageous that they had to shoot him.
And about shooting him in the leg, I suppose officers can't shoot someone without probable cause. They were trying to get him to drop the knife, they had to have their guns aimed at a place where the suspect would feel threatened.
Edit - I live in a blue state that doesn't have the death penalty, and I'm a Democrat. Stop calling Americans idiots. |

so you honestly cant see any connection between the death penalty and cops not caring about the lives of suspects? you dont think a certain mentality is present among those who live in a society where the state kills people? |

ok but maybe 13 or 14 of the officers could have aimed at his torso and one or two could have shot at the leg. again, to bring toronto into this. a while ago they had a hostage situation where a man took a woman hostage in the street. a sharp shooter blew his brains out without harming a hair on her head. maybe the officers could have stood back and waited for someone who knows how to shoot well to arrive. then taken out his leg or even the hand holding the knife.
i didnt call americans idiots. i love the blue states, even though there are many suspect individuals even there. IMO you guys should just seperate and have all the hicks live in the south..aside from cali. and congrats on being a democrat :)
edit: what i did say was "united states of idiocy" which I stand by completely, you must agree lots of idiocy goes on in the us...and not to say it doesnt even in canada. just stating the obvious i guess. |

reminds me of a book about correlations of this type. the more interesting significant relatinoship was between legalized abortino and intelligence. |
