I would always like to know the question simms327 brings up. I have never heard of acne at any point in early history until up to the 1950's.
Could it have something to do with the air quality? Maybe it has something to do with all the chemicals they add to food now a days? |
yes! someone do a thesis on this or somthing, and get back to us! |

That's what I always thought - I didn't think it had anything to do with the way you eat. Maybe the occasional breakout might be slightly affected by eating habits, but I'm pretty sure acne has nothing to do with it and it's just a myth.

Oh, and change your pillowcase every night and make sure you're changing your face sponges daily and not using hair products after putting on your makeup. |
I've heard this advice before - it's good and makes sense. Also, avoid putting a lot of product in your hair unless you sleep with it tied back away from your face somehow.
Good luck! |

Im pretty sure eating affects it.
cause once it worked for me (ok it wasnt a perfectly controlled experiment - but it worked)
if started eating mcdonalds every day etc, and changed nothing else in my life, im pretty sure i would get more pimples. |

That is what dermatologists say, but I am not convinced that it's true. I'm sure that for some people, eating habits don't affect acne, but I know that for me, it was definately a factor.
Try eating healthier. If it makes your acne go away, then problem solved. If it doesn't, you're still benefiting from eating healthier. It's a win-win situation. |

i have had problems with acne for most of my life and have tried pretty much everything from over the counter creams to prescription medicine. (including pro-active)
Besides the odd pimple that pops out when you least expect it, my face is pretty clear now. A bit of advice that i can give you besides what everyone else has mentioned, try the following...
Breakfast:
Cereal of choice (with yogurt or milk) sprinkled with a spoon of wheat bran. The Bran acts as a scraper to remove all toxins from ur intestine. It can be purchased at any health store
Lunch and Dinner:
try to eat a balanced meal lots of veg and stay away from anything fried. Also take some fibre capsules with ur meal. i take Fibre Perfect (3 caps with lunch and dinner)
Wash ur face with cleanser, tone and moisturize (Dont over wash b/c we are in winter and ur face tends to get dry and damaged quicker) Also get some Sulpher solution. The sulpher opens ur pores and helps the skin BREATH therefore makes it impossible for bacteria to collect within ur pores.
Remember you are trying to clean your body from the inside out. Most pimples are caused by improper bowel functioning. Using creams, mask etc may cause temp. imrovements but what you essentially want is to get rid of them for life.
I have a wicked dermatologist who has helped me alot.
PM me and i'l give you the info
Good luck! |

Have you ever tried Lush Cosmetics??
its all natural stuff... i've been using it for a while and my skin has never been nicer or softer....
i suggest going to the store ( its on Queen) and talking to the ppl who work there, telling them exactly what your skin probs are and they will make suggestions for specific solutions... the stuff is a bit pricey.. but it may just be what you are looking for...

all these partiers here and everyone failed to mention that acne is a sideeffect of mdma.
many many people tend to get a zit or two after they 'tweak'. some get more than others. it may not happen all the time but it does happen. |

This is actually a myth. The acne you get from partying is a result of sweat and hair products on your face. |

sounds so obvious but I would never have guessed, go figure. Some great advice in this thread. |

| Eating habits only affect your acne because of the extra work or damage they do to your organs. You can actually pinpoint parts of your face that relate to the kidneys or liver or bowels. |
