This is actually a myth. The acne you get from partying is a result of sweat and hair products on your face. |
+ hormonal imbalances cause acne. Taking substances 'can' cause hormonal imbalances. |

| I would hazard a guess that the acne some people get from partying is also a result of the *ahem* elevated stress levels after the party. |

For some unknown reason, I had pretty bad acne starting when I was 16...like I mean the big red ones with white heads popping. It was ing gross and it bummed me out big time. I saw a dermatologist who put me on erothromycin (spelling incorrect probably).....which helped but it came back with a vengence. My family doctor decided acutane was the way to go and I took it for a year. You should explore that option if you have chronic acne...it really can work wonders for people. It took a long time for me but it slowly improved and by about a year after I stopped taking it, my face was completely cured and there is little evidence I ever had it. You just have to watch the booze/drugs since it can cause liver imbalances.
Edit: I see some people did mention it. I think you guys are overreacting a bit. I didn't need to see a specialist to get acutane...my family doctor wrote the subscriptions and I had two types of blood tests every other month. It is not a dangerous drug if you take it for less than one year. The important thing is to get your blood tested often and if they see anything wrong, you're done. But then again, I have one of the best drug plans around and it was completely free. You could at least run it by your doctor if it a recurrent issue. |

too much stress,
too much sex,
not enough sleep,
not enough water...
Those are all my inputs for things to look out for... ;p |

| What is all this talk of food causing acne? I thought "too much chocolate/sugar causes acne" is hore to be thrown in with those old myths that suggested masturbating gave you zits. Seriously...back in the 20s, this was actually used as causation. Back in the day when I was taking accutane, both my family doctor and the dermatologist I saw said acne in teenagers and breakouts in adults have absolutely nothing to do with diet, or at least, they have not been able to establish that link. They say now it is mostly due to horomone problems, especially in teens. |

some family dr's will put patients on accutane, some do not feel comfortable and refer to a dermatologist.
kelly: that Yonka purifying cream is only available at spas or online. It's really good stuff. I break out every few months for some reason and this stuff has been a godsend!

| Beware of "detoxification" and its proponents - it is quackery. |
