it tells more about todays trance than about Aftermath...
IgnazZio
Dogzilla- Without You

But I want Jonas Steur to win; Belgian

Actually Silent Waves is the winner anyway...

It only has to do it with the original mix, the only version.
There are like 10 remixes of swing to harmony and each one fits another trance genre, so every one likes at least one mix more or less... it's not really fair when you see it that way

GO JONAS !!!!

A sad and poor year for trance really. Looking at theese track makes me sad and wondering if trance is descending or just getting popular. Some track even makes me puke (Aftermath). Nevertheless I voted for Jonas Steur, which is in fact quite average. Hopefully these results are caused by increasing popularity of trance, and popularity always brings chicks and dudes who evaluate music only through the eyes and ears and not the heart. I mean PvD being voted as better producer than Tiesto is an obvious sign of this.

What the does that mean? I think it's an obvious sign that you haven't actually heard much of PVD's 12+ year discography.

"There are like 10 remixes of swing to harmony and each one fits another trance genre, so every one likes at least one mix more or less".

Interesting isn't it?

Thank you for atleast putting, even if unknowingly, a very strong foreword on why "Swing 2 Harmony" is in a different league altogether. I don't see any of aftermath or silent waves remixed half that number of times.

Here is a relevant write-up from my blogspace at the beginning of the year.

Top Tracks Of 2005 - The List is Out!

Finally!

It was tougher than i'd imagined it would be. Not many top-notch Trance tracks were churned out this year but there were still enough of them to make it a challenging and demanding task. I actually felt bad for some that i had to leave out.

So i made my list in 4 parts:

Part - I is the list of my choice for the top-5 tracks of the year (in no particular order)

1. Interstate - I Found U
2. Perasma - Swing 2 Harmony
3. Deep Dish - Say Hello
4. Kuffdam & Plant - Summerdream
5. Mike Foyle vs. Signalrunners - Love Theme Dusk

Part II is the extension of Part-I to make it Top-10 tracks of the year. The bottom-5 tracks of this part are again in no particular order for their ranking from 6 to 10.

6. DJ tiesto - A Tear in the open (Leama & Moor Mix)
7. Above & Beyond vs. Andy Moor - Air For Life
8. FB feat Edun - Who's knocking (Original/Ferry Corsten Remix)
9. Gabriel & Dresden - Zocalo
10. Andy Moor - Halcyon

Part-III is the listing of tracks that missed out the Part-II listing very very narrowly and thus missed out being in the top-10 tracks of the year. They too are in no particular order for their rankings from 11 to 15.

11. Gabriel & Dresden - Arcadia
12. Tilt - Twelve
13. Mr Sam - Lyteo (Rank 1 Remix)
14. The Killers - Mr. Brightside (Jaques Lu Cont's Thin White Duke Dub Mix)
15. Markus Schulz & Departure with Gabriel & Dresden - Without You Near

Part-IV are the tracks that can best be categorised as "Also Ran". With a little luck and on some other day, they would've made it to the top-10 listing :).

16. Dogzilla - Without You
17. Marcel Woods - Advanced
18. Jonas Steur - Castamara
19. Jonas Steur - Silent Wave
20. Pryda - Aftermath

I have lost track of the number of times i had to shuffle a few tracks from between Part-I & Part-II and also between Part-II & Part-III. Even as i had finished finalising the list, i ended up shuffling "FB feat Edun - Who's knocking (Original/Ferry Corsten Remix)" from Part-III to Part-II at the expense of unlucky "The Killers - Mr. Brightside ". That should sum it up. I hope the listing is now final :).

For the best vocal-trance of the year, it's a stiff competition between ".Interstate - I Found U", "Perasma - Swing 2 Harmony" and "Deep Dish - Say Hello". The hauntingly beautiful vocal from "I Found You" and "Swing 2 Harmony" is perfectly matched by a sweet and melodic "Say Hello" by Anousheh (Did i mention she is beautiful too :) ). I think i'll go with "I Found You".

In the non-vocal trance, Summer Dream is undoubtedly the track of the year.

Not surprisingly, Gabriel & Dresden have three tracks in top-15 with "Zocalo", "Without You Near" and "Arcadia" while their "Tracking Treasure down" narrowly missing being the fourth one. It is some indication of how well they carried Trance through 2005.

They aren't ranked even in top-20 DJs. That's an indication of the changing times.

It must indeed be quite ironic that Jonas Steur - Silent Wave and Pryda - Aftermath, the two most talked about track in this poll had actually barely made it to the top-20 and were ranked 19th and 20th respevtively.

Silent Waves takes the lead!

summerdream wasn't bad but it came late .. i.e. it's ta kind of track that would have made a good hit and classic back in 2000-2001..

pryda - aftermath shouldn't have made it to this list..

Perasma - Swing 2 Harmony ?? wasn't this nikola gala track hot in 2004 as well? why did it have to get its recycled version in the top 5?

love theme dusk is a timeless track. you'll get to listen to it in a few years and feel nostalgic about 2005..
