Great night @ Spundae for the Armada event.
Packed to the walls.
Everyone seemed like they were having a really good time. Hope everyone made it home safely. I'm sure most people are still a) partying or b) sleeping

So... if you have a review, post it!

Also, who do you think played the set of the night??

Only 1 Sander van Doorn track tonight??? LOL

I think I heard a total of 5 tracks from his set: Escape, Incognition, Linking People, Shivers, and TTD as previously mentioned. Not bad at all... if that was representative of what he played.

Didn't I predict that Rank 1 would play Breathing (breaks dub)?! Hope Piet enjoyed his Bailey's on me :thepirate And yes, "dreamy" trance is solely what I'm all about, Mr. "Airwave" :p

BTW, arrived at 21:05 and had absolutely no problem finding street parking on McFadden just south of Santa Monica, and walked right in with no line whatsoever :D Then kept busy spread over the long wall couch-like thing across from the cantina (smells yummy :toothless) for almost 2 hours with Sudokus :)

Number of people who commented that it was too packed to enjoy the music? Too many to count :wtf:

Funniest moment of the night: when Armin's friend from Armada introduced me to Remy and told him that I didn't like his productions :stongue: which is true!

Best moment of the night: hanging out with ColleenKelly and Julio (and others like Matt Cerf) in the green room... "OMG, it's Philippe, everyone!" (still echoing in my head) OK, so those videos won't get posted on the net, right guys? :nervous: But what was up with kicking everyone out of there so early? :whip: Did Tiësto really rent it for the rest of the night? :disbelief The head security guard wouldn't say :( Any Tijs sightings at Circus

Although, I have to say, Miss Rita was the goddess of the night :eyes: Mike, you LSOB  Thanks for everything, sexy birthday boy

What can I say? I LOVE INTERSTATE! Thanks to gypsygirl for rocking to their set with me; so glad you could make it! (Oh, and sorry for bugging you again about the T-shirts, Mark :o)

And last but anything but least, very special thanks to my very special neighbor technofriik who made it possible for me to enjoy this night to such an extent despite everything else. Yes, I trust you... and more ;)

Interestingly enough, I really enjoyed Remy's set! Yeah, it was mellow (probably had to be for warm-up), but the tracks were such good quality and there was plenty of room to dance. The look in his eyes seemed something between disbelief and wonder that so many people were really into his set that early in the evening!

Met a lot of TA's and was fun dancing with everyone up front, though I needed another drink after the experience of taking what seemed to be the last of 20 or so parking spaces in the second lot at 9:15 p.m., then getting upset over how huge the line was, only to realize that pre-sale was the line to the left with about 3 people in it! Airport security was a breeze this time, much more friendly than in the past, maybe Avalon proved it could be done that way?

Snuck over to the side just before Interstate started playing so was all the way up front and got some really good pics! Interstate played a great live set, really different music, but guess that's what makes it even more memorable. One of the band member's guitar straps was bright yellow and said "police line - do not cross," very funny!

Made it back over to the main stage just before Armin came on, and everyone was going crazy, yet I was (really) surprised how peaceful and nice the crowd was. Didn't experience any pushing or shoving, but maybe I was just standing in the wrong place (two from the front??)

Seemed like Armin's set was over in 5 minutes, so I must have really liked it! Very high energy crowd too, which must have been a big adrenaline rush! "Shivers" really went off, I know it's getting played a lot, but I still think this is such a great track. Was just weird not seeing Armin close the night, I think he has every other time I've seen him, but I had no problem once Piet fired up the decks!

Rank 1 held almost everyone on the floor until 4 a.m.! I loved it when Piet played "Lyteo," it's such a "grand" sounding track and fit in very well with the large crowd. I also know that Piet posted right here on the TA forum a few weeks about how everyone deserves to have their own opinion about music, and I agree that it makes the world a better place. I shook Piet's hand at the end of his set and thanked him for posting here on the TA forum. I even saw Armin walking around behind the DJ booth halfway through Rank 1's set and he was taking pictures with the lucky few that had figured out he was there!

As for a rumor about Tiesto renting out the space for the rest of the night, doubt it's true due to city codes that make the clubs shut down at certain hours, but guess if he's living here now anything is possible?

I even ran into Holly Adams and DJ Izz in the back room while trying to find my friend, and it almost felt like I was back at GrooveRadio for awhile! All in all, an excellent evening, many thanks to DJ Remy, Interstate, Armin, and Rank 1 (and all the others I didn't have time to see) for such a good time! :D

What an amazing night!!! Remy threw down a really nice housewarming set. I totally digged his style and the vibe that was presented on the dance floor. Maybe it was because there was plenty of room to dance at the time. Seeing Interstate perform live was a great experience. Always good to see live performances, as they rocked. Thanks philippe for introducing me to Colleen.

Then came Armin!!! His set was by far the best of the night. As usual, he hypnotized the crowd with his music selection. The floor was super packed. Definitely a hazard zone. Drinks were spilled all over me and I was constantly being pushed and elbowed but didn't care, cuz Armin was performing an unreal set. As sober as I was, I felt like I was on something and in another world.

Last but not least, Rank 1 finished off with a great set of his own. A little too fast for me but I still danced my ass off and enjoyed what is so far considered the best night of 2006.

Great to see and meet almost all of the TA's. Too many names to mention (forgot a couple of the names, but will never forget a face). Shout out to all of you. TA is definitely the best subculuture within the electronic music community. It's a family away from our own family. Always glad to help any of you out.

armin is THE ONE, loved every second of his set. this is the
4th time i see him this year, and i think this was the best.
is he getting wilder at the booth too? he is just an idol dj.
the girl who snatched this guy is way too lucky.

are boobs of asian chicks getting bigger or what? there were lots of asian dolls.

i did not like the supporting djs, but who cares?

i had very good time, overall. good music, good girls, what else would i want?

I PETITION FOR ARMIN ONLY!!!!!!!
gypsygirl
posted my review in the armada night thread (so if you wanna read it ) but just a quick summary: RANK 1 was the absolute best set of the night! i have never seen spundae that packed and that crazy at 4am! he was utterly amazing and had me dancing for his whole set! yes remy's set was mellow but it makes sense i guess since he was opening, i really dug his last couple of tracks right before interstate came on.

i couldn't get into armin's set but it looked like i was one of the only ones that couldn't b/c everyone else was totally digging it. interstate was great and fun.

i almost didn't go last night for several reasons but then i got the opporunity to go and i am so glad i was there!!!! piet was just really good, very fun, high energy set and he was definitely enjoying his time behind the decks by the look on his face.

i would definitely like to see remy at a different time slot to see what he would do differently, i feel he might take it to a harder, darker level that he sorta kinda went to right at the end of his set! super nice guy, got a chance to talk to him about his music, like i have no idea what the hell i'm talking about. but he was very gracious and definitely loved the vibe everyone was giving off at the club. agree with in2muzikk, the crowd was way chill and the vibe was great considering there were so many people there. does anyone know the total count last night? just wondering.

btw, thank you michelle for being my booty guard last night!!! that jackass from the marco v show down in san diego was there last night and was bothering me again and you totally jump his so thank you:) okay between this review and the other i believe i've said, well, way too much, bye

Indeed, this was a special event at Spundae. The music kept trance lovers dancing all night long.

I arrived early. Because I didn't have a ticket I had to be there before there was even a line. :stongue: Only way to ensure entrance. Interesting fact, you can get in without having your ID checked. I saw this guy do it. I think I unintentionally helped him.

Remy's set was great for warming up the crowd. Although a bit slow, it did the job for me. Nice tunes throughout. The room got packed quikly. People were coming in ready to have a good time.

Then Interstate was up. Their performance was great. Remember Me, if I remeber the name of the song correctly, is the newest Interstante tune and let me tell you, it rocks! The vocals on this one are awesome. Hearing I Found U live was great. Colleen Kelly has a very good voice.

Armin's set was also good. I was hoping he'd play Bigger Palace, I wasn't disappointed. Love that tune. Fans were chating his name before he even started spinning. It was madness. It was so crowded, and more around the DJ booth. We sure love Armin. He play good tunes, many that I haven't heard before. He rocked the house!

And to close the night was Rank 1. What an awesome set! Lyteo! :eyespop: Forever Today. :p The crowd was jumping and having fun, a lot of energy. And it was still crowded around the DJ booth. Much love was being given to the DJ.

This night was great. An stellar line-up that kept us, the music lovers, dancing all night. Thanks Spundae.

Well, I had an overall great night. Many thanks to Mike, Michelle, Carrie and Kris.

Remy's set was an absolute joke so I just laughed it off and popped on my PSP headphones.

Interstate performing was actually really nice. Couldn't see it much since I was by the DJ booth waiting for Armin to start his set.

I honestly didn't think he would bring it. But he did. Great tunes from start to finish (except Tracking Treasure Down. For GOD's SAKE.)

And finally.....Piet from Rank 1. He OPENED with Breathing (Breaks dub) and I LOST my mind. Other tunes included Top Gear, Lyteo and for his encore he played Airwave.

Many thanks to everyone I met...way too many names...got some pics and videos, will post them soon, but now, my brain is fecal matter.

I didn't get to go in as we were denied entry after waiting in line for more than 2 goddam hours. I was totally bummed that what was supposed to work out didn't, but I guess happens. I wish I would've just bought my tickets through groove so I could've seen Armin.

We waited in line from 11-1 and they still weren't letting people that were waiting in the front of the line in (us), the jackasses just kept bringing random s from the back of the line to give them our spots next in line. A bunce of bull if you ask me but we finally got fed up with their and left when Sunshine or whatever told us that it didn't look good about getting in.

We went over to the Standard on Sunset to meet some other friends. I thought I would maybe find some good music to make up for missing Armin but I was wrong and it was absolutely terrible. Still can't believe we got denied and I'm in pissed I missed Armin. :(

Sadly, eating at IHOP was the best part of my night.

Cliff notes
Drive to Spundae - $20
Valet - $20
Waiting at the FRONT of the line for 2 hours for nothing - Waste of my time
Drinks at Standard - $30
Eating at IHOP drunk at 4 in the AM - Priceless

I love Armin!! He definately brought a huge cheese smile to my face all night!!
I thought Remy was pretty good once he got into some electro beats.
Interstate rocked it! I didn't want to move out of my "Arminland "spot..but what I saw and heard was great! Once Armin takes over... WOOO ING HOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! I actually had a good spot most of the night about 2 people back, only getting pushed around a few times. ( sorry to the dude I kept spilling my drink on :() All my friends came to check on me from time to time! Thanks guys!!
Once Armin was done.. I think I was too.. I was disappointed he wasn't closing the club! At the end he got pretty much mobbed again.. I steered clear of that mess!!.. I did manage to see him at another point in the night to say "Hi" and get a hug..and he signed my heart!! Thanks Armin you ROCK!
I did catch some of Levelle's set in the back room..wow! He was amazing! HOLY COW!
I had a great night all in all!! No problems getting in, no problems parking! Fun with all the TA's from EVERYWHERE!! Arizona, Florida, Nevada! And of course all the LATA's!! FUN FUN FUN!!:tongue2
