I saw Tiesto for the first time @ UMF 6, I thought he was awesome, he was my number two on my top five then.
I saw him @ Crobar last year in like September, he sucked ass, played the most popular, typical Tiesto , which I should have expected. Call me a music whore, but I expect people to switch it up a little for the New York crowd, but, of course, he played a typical Tiesto set. Don't get me wrong it was a decent time, but since two years ago I guess you can say my standards have gone higher, also since turning 21, and starting to go out as of last April. |

| I'm a fan, and I admit he has questionable mixing at times. But after seeing him in a private SoBe club a few weeks ago, the guy isn't the arrogant god-like prick you make him out to be Clovis. If Sasha were number 1 for 3 yrs. in a row, you wouldn't take the time grabbing for straws with comments like "I think he sucks because he thinks he's God". I mean, honestly dude. :wtf: |

It's not that I hate Tiesto, I actually used to really enjoy his style from back in the day . A lot of the trance tunes that he spun from back in the day were what got me into him (Love his Live @ Energy 2000 set), but as time passed by Trance started heading into a different direction, as does most genres. For good or for worse, that's for you to judge.. but for me, it was a turn for the worse. Tiesto followed the direction trance was heading and I began to lose interest in him, before he even blew up and became #1.
I would get into specifics a little more but i know my opinion would be shredded by the few elitists (I miss the epic trance of 99-00 but we cant live in the past) .. and also add to the fact that I am a very ty writer :rolleyes: |

When it says "SASHA" up there, we'll talk.
If Sasha was #1 for three years, it wouldn't be because he whored his name to no end doing ridiculously large concerts devoted to him, AND HIMSELF only.
Sasha has Fundacion nights all over the world, where he invites other DJ's to play WITH him. He's already where he wants to be and doesn't need some stupid #1 spot in a retarded poll to feel better about himself. He'd rather promote lesser known artists like Desyn Masiello, James Zabiela or Lee Burridge, and help them gain exposure by playing alongside him. So far I havn't seen Tiesto do anything of the sort.
And not only does he have giant concerts devoted to his own ego, HE CANT EVEN BE ARSED TO BEATMATCH TWO ING TRACKS, in a DJ BOOTH DESSIGNED SPECIFICALLY FOR HIM, at an EVENT DESIGNED FOR HIM, where he has complete control over any sort of hindrance that may bother him while mixing.
So no...thats bull. Sorry. He wanted the #1 spot, he got it, but he was, and still is, unable to deliver a performance I would expect from the self proclaimed "#1 DJ in the world" |

In 2003 Tiesto had the 'Invited By Tiesto' nights designed to be the party where Tijs could invite guests in a similar style to the Fundacion nights. However I’d say in hindsight they turned out to be more a good excuse for Tijs to invite his own heroes along to play: Tong, G&D etc.
His opinion (in a recent interview)on Phynn, BH artists – they are getting his full support as artists when he plays their productions, and that he is there if they ever wanted a talk or advice.
Clovis is definitely right by one statement – he definitely wanted that no.1 spot badly. The interview with DJ Mag from 2003 is the clincher – where you can see that it’s no longer about the music – “yeah we were aiming to win it this year, off the back of the Concert – but got a shock when I already did it last year”.
It’s definitely where he wanted to be – but unlike Sasha or van Dyk – who IMO have found their niche and are quite happy to continue within their limits as DJs, it seems Tiesto based his ambitions on popularity & personal gratification rather than achieving praise for technical recognition.
I actually think its pretty lonely being Tiesto right now. He’s insulted his way through a few technicians in the studio, fallen out with various blackhole related producers that formed the backbone of his sets, created disunity and unrest in his fanbase, it’s the end of an era alright – the wheels finally fell off.
Its becoming more and more about the special events - the 'Pit Parties!" and the Disney sets. What a joke. DJs like Tiesto are definitely the new Rockstars. They're also going to be spat out of the industry just as quickly in a few years time.
Unfortunately I don’t think Tijs sees all this coming – because whenever he steps into a booth he is overcome by thousands upon thousands of mad clubbers praising the very ground he is walking on. It’s pretty hard to form any kind of self-appraisal when the only reaction you’re getting is 110% OMG positive. |

I never was. Heck, I didn't even know about the guy until that Silence remix, and only really heard of him in press releases. Whether it was because I was way off in remote Prince Rupert, BC at the time, or had fled the anthem schlock to enjoy every other EDM genre instead, I don't know. It was only after his second #1 spot in DJMag that I really started to pay attention. Oh, and then I also started to 'lurk' on TA.:p
Since then, I've checked out a few of his DJ mixes, including that ISOS2, the one nearly all of his fans claim to be one of his best. Don't see what the big deal of that mix is -sounds like just about every other trance mix that came out in 2000. |

Ive always admired his production work but was never a fan of his as a DJ. and unless he magikally (;)) learns to beatmatch and have great track selection I wont start becoming one any time soon. |
