| I think it'll probably be a good thing in the long run helping people cut down on their smoking and also stopping so many start smoking as well. It'll piss me off till I get used to it no doubt but I think I can live with it. |

as a non smoker its good news for me, the one thing i hate about going out is the amount of smoke, always ends up getting in my clothes and sinking out my room the next morning, just seems to stick to everything! plus i think too many people smoke, so far in leiceter where i live now, ive only met a handfull of people who dont smoke, that is really quite scary if you ask me.
on the other hand its guna piss millions of people off! |

| As a social smoker who quit as of New Years, I'm rather chuffed about this, I hate how my jacket ends up stinking when I leave a club :( |

it'll piss off people who smoke, but also as a non smoker its bloody brilliant news!
no more after pub smokey smell, no more gagging when sitting with bunches of people smoking with no air ventilation.

Good thing imo as I do not smoke.

Well I'm a non-smoker, so I think it's great, but there will be so many people who disagree. :p
At the end of the day, I doubt many places will enforce the rule. It's not like some drunken clubber is gonna complain to management if someone starts smoking.
:haha: |

With fines of £2500 i'd imagine they will be more than strict with enforcing it! |

Iam in two minds over this ban. Yes it will be good for people who don't smoke and I share their faustrations when it comes to passive inhalation and not wanting to reak of smoke when they go home. Iam trying to give up smoking myself and seeing as how Iam only a light social smoker it will almost certainly mean that I will give up entirely which I'm not going to complain over, seeing as how I view it as a stupid unenjoyable and basically pointless habit. Smoking will destroy you in a much greater way the occasional use of a lot of illegal drugs out there and that I can confidently state as fact!
However Iam annoyed that the Government has decided to take up the authority over this issue. When it comes to pubs and private members clubs it should be the Landlords who make the decisions. You wouldn't enter a smokers home and then tell him/her to put their fag out so why is the Government extending this to privatley owned venues? It's no different in principal to the Goverment telling you that it is now illegal to smoke in your own house. |

We were discussing this in uni today actually and apparently they're not banning it in private members clubs. Far too many politicians that enjoy a good cigar for them to ban smoking in places like that  |
