Even the wav downloads don't come through the way vinyl does on a big system...from what I've heard.
this was specifically about beatport's downloads though. |

well, according to beatport those WAV files are directly from the label. so if there are any problems then its caused by the label not beatport.
but if there are problems with MP3's, etc. then it would be Beatports fault, since they compress the WAV files using their own encoders, which could possibly be faulty. |

| if the mp3 is under 320, its not mega soundsystem clubworthy |

| when you listen to the samples you hear on beatport you can tell whether or not the quality is good enough. sure there are times when its not good enough and it can be a pain but them's the breaks i guess. small price to pay though. if you want it that bad, then buy the vinyl and rip it. theres always ways around these things if you want it bad enough |

the samples on beatport for a preview are actually a very low quality (96kbps or so) and are only meant for u to get an idea of the tune. now they DEFINTELY dont sell it in 96kbps...whats the compression rate for purchases on beatport?? 192? |

320kpbs. But you can also choose .wav or other bit rates and formats.
I still play 99.9% vinyl. I've been collecting vinyl since early 97... so there's still lots to choose from. I've played around on the cdj1000s and no doubt they are fun and uber easy to use. For now, I still prefer vinyl, but if I have to, I will use both. You don't have to give up one for the other... that's the beauty of it all!
I'm also waiting to see how much Serato Scratch or Final Scratch will catch on. I met DJ Grouch, a well-known Toronto DMC turntablist, and he swears by Serato. |

not true dude...the best in the business (sound engineers, producers, djs, etc) did a test on this and couldnt tell the difference between the orignal wavs and 192s, oggs, etc...I'll try to find the article |
