'yes' for me.
for those that voted 'no'....what are your reasons? |
I Voted no. My reasons are simple. I think that it would be better to find one or two countries with both a scene plus a userbase here already, and start at that. Asia has vast culture differences and I think lumping such a proportion of the population into just an 'Asian' section will allienate people on the forum as a whole. While not a bad idea in theory, I think it needs a lot more thought before anything is worthwhile.
This doesn't make me racist, anti-asian or anything, I'm just looking at it like this, take Europe. Many languages, races, cultures, thoughts, could you imagine us all being lumped in just 1 forum? Start sensibly & it will be a much better long-term prospect imho. |

I have to agree here.
Besides, the rules should be the same for everyone. No forum until you get 20 active members etc. and this:
| quote: | | 2) They all need to come from the same country. Regional forums are created for users from a particular country/region, not because they all speak the same language. We've often had requests for a forum based on x amount of people all speaking the same language, but living in 10 different countries. This is not what regional forums are about. They are about discussing local events, meet ups, whats going on generally in ur region/country. This doesnt work if you all come from different countries. |

I vote, "No". Because alot of people, especially in america look asian, but were actually born and raised in america.
So they would be in the forums saying, "Lol! Look at my EyEz! I'm "azn"! I love watching english translated anime because I don't speak any other language! lol!" |

i suppose the asia forums would have separate sub region forums. a mid east forum is going to be a sesspool of political bashing and not about EDM at all |
Wow you must have a lot of friends  Jezus, you're an annoying person  |

Although I agree with the culture differences, I don't think of it as alienating. Having an Asian forum created is, I think, a small step towards what you're envisioning. I think, though, it has to start small like this, with one big lump being created for all TAs from the region to gather first, and then further secede into more specific subforums.
I find it progressively constructive that there is first one forum that represents your continent, encouraging users to gather; where, then, once the gathering were done, users from different regions could further converge and request a section of their own; where, under that region, say Southeast Asia, for example, different countries could assemble into their own, specific sections, etc.
I think this is the way to go for Asia, as the continent as a whole, right now, lacks "representation" on the forum; they have no place to gather, and so, they don't post as being in a particular country, but rather contribute to individual threads in other forums and then back off to lurking, reading, etc.
Further, there would be much greater conflict, I think, if it were the other way around and, say, another Asian section were represented, but yours weren't. That would truly be alienating. Think Europe, for example.
I ask, again, isn't that enough votes already? |

provided that the section doesn't just bring in people who have no interest in the rest of the site, I can see your point of view. Guess it's just which way to look at it. |
