I always check in on the rest of the site, and I imagine mostly everyone else does. In reality, I am here for the music. I always check in on the MD and maybe post something, but usually I am there to look for songs that are recommended.
I'm in the COR almost all the time because it's just so damn fun. |

provided that the section doesn't just bring in people who have no interest in the rest of the site, I can see your point of view. Guess it's just which way to look at it. |
You say having an Asian section will prevent people from that region from being part of the rest of the website if I understand you correctly .... but what about all the other sections already?
This secludedness is already present in many local sections. A lot of the sections are very active with many of the users never going outside of them. Why would it be expected to be any different for Asia?

If they're after info relating to their own region or want to know about meetups close to them that's where they're going to find it. There's nothing wrong with that.
Asia Forum FTW! |

| to play devils advocate, we're talking about increasing TA's user base. given how it handles its current traffic load - which is not very well but i will note slight improvements recently - i dunno if its a good idea to increase that load |

I think there needs to be more of a drive to bring people out of the local sections & into the others, how it used to be. I know it happens now, and it's a reason why the site sucks at times, there was a time when you'd recognise most of the names posting anywhere due to the fact they posted in one of the main forums. |

what the are you on about? You seriously have some sort of problem with anyone who disagrees with you, even if they give very good reasoning. |

There are pros and cons to people only posting in their local forums and people not having a local forum.
My belief is if you have a local forum locals will get to know each other and potentially get more involved doing things together.... what's wrong with that? I mean you have ukta forum and #ukta chatroom. If it weren't for these things I seriously doubt you would have had any gatherings and meetups and the likes .... |

I Voted no. My reasons are simple. I think that it would be better to find one or two countries with both a scene plus a userbase here already, and start at that. Asia has vast culture differences and I think lumping such a proportion of the population into just an 'Asian' section will allienate people on the forum as a whole. While not a bad idea in theory, I think it needs a lot more thought before anything is worthwhile.
This doesn't make me racist, anti-asian or anything, I'm just looking at it like this, take Europe. Many languages, races, cultures, thoughts, could you imagine us all being lumped in just 1 forum? Start sensibly & it will be a much better long-term prospect imho. |
i agree with you for the most part. but isn't that how the US boards started? just as a lump "US forum" and as more regions such as the midwest started to become more active, a new subforum was developed? |

I would be most disappointed if a region of over 3 billion people can't muster enough votes to pass this through. Yes for me. | I gotta side with my favorite MOD in this one. :)
and let it be known.......if it wasn't for the FLorida Forum/South East forum........i wouldnt have known HALF the people on here that i do today.
i wouldnt have met all the great FLTA's that i met.......AND....... later when we split into Atlanta/South East and Florida had its own forum......... it was very well accepted and very well implemented. It brought the ATL TA's a lot closer.
having your own forum doesn't necessarily separate people. It brings locals together. IF you want to venture out then do.
if not- you have that choice. |
